I used devonalds as my estate agent recommended them. Initially, they started off well and were quick to set me up but once the app was in place I never got the opportunity to speak to the solicitor once as I was told when ringing the office that it all had to be done through the app, meaning I was having to vigorously explain things and not always getting accurate or timely responses as they were not understanding what exactly i was asking and discussing big figures through an app is not straight forward. Had i known it was all app when signing up I'd have just gone to a solicitor who was cheaper and not local as I went local for local service and didnt get it and spent more in the process.
Context is better read/received through verbal conversation than messages, im sure most would agree. I expect the app was for efficiency which is great but perhaps has gone too far the other way to being more neglectful of good communication.
I found this quite frustrating as I'm not well versed in buying and selling houses and would've appreciated a little more proactiveness and better communication from such a expensive service that you pay thousands for. It caused a lot of delay for me as the client in waiting for accurate answers and i had to seek out answers for the process because they werent anticipating dates or providing the information. A suggestion moving forward would be to offer your client one or two formal 15 minute session to deal with any issues during and towards the end of the process, to prevent realms of app messages and misunderstanding of complex information (for those of us not practicing law) through phone calls. I don't think thats a lot to ask personally and it would significantly reduce your message volumes.
At the end of the completion the cheque was then delayed and after a week they decided to transfer. Daniel was then really helpful and efficient in sorting this, but the lady I had throughout, was not unfortunately. Perhaps its dependent on who you have.
Wouldn't recommend or use again.
