This area covers what happens before a person is charged with a crime, including early police interview advice and decisions about bail and next steps. A solicitor in England who practises pre-charge work helps a client understand the rights during custody, attends police stations, advises on potential cautions, and engages with the Crown Prosecution Service on possible charging options. They also review early disclosure and prepare for future court or tribunal proceedings if charges are brought.

Where a solicitor protects your position

The point at which decisions about whether to charge or release are taken can be decisive and time-sensitive. A solicitor provides guidance around custody interviews, cautions, bail considerations, and early disclosure, supported by professional responsibility, indemnity, and client protection under the solicitors’ regulatory framework.

Elliot Hammer

Tagged solicitor Elliot Hammer

I was harassed by a malicious troll attempting, at great length and persisting for several years, to have me prosecuted for some perfectly lawful tweets. Elliot was a rock, completely on top of the brief and very supportive even after the troll also started harassing him. Would highly recommend.
