Speeding offences cover exceeding the posted speed limit on roads, with consequences that can range from a modest penalty to longer disqualification for serious or repeated breaches. A solicitor helps by reviewing the speeding allegation, identifying any issues with how the notice was issued, and advising on the best route—such as accepting a fixed penalty, completing a speed awareness course, or contesting the charge in court. They also handle disclosure, prepare evidence, and represent the client at hearings if a trial becomes necessary.

Stephen Mark Oldham
Solicitor
“Stephen is very knowledgeable in his chosen profession. I was in a very difficult position as I have an annual driving license due to illness and was a very careless in speeding excessively on a motorway. I could have potentially lost my driving license permanently but Stephen listened carefully to my issues and identified the important points to raise during my court hearing. As a result of his hard work I received a disqualification for far less time than I was expecting. He’s a genuine person and will give you realistic advice for your offence and make sure you are fully prepared if you have to appear before magistrates. I would definitely recommend him. ”

Rachel Fletcher
Managing Partner & Head of Crime
“From the outset Rachel was so helpful and gave us fantastic advice when dealing with our motoring offence that had escalated. We had no idea who to turn to and are so glad we chose Slater Heelis as Rachel has gone above and beyond in helping to manage the situation and assisting us in completing all the relevant legal paperwork. We would definitely use this company again and would encourage others to do so too. Thank you!”

What Speeding offences clients highlight
“To cut things short, Elizabeth Bradshaw saved my licence and job. I had 3 serious convictions and 6 points already on my licence from a previous incident. I then got caught speeding 3 times which in effect meant my licence was doomed (I thought). Elizabeth managed to convince the judge that I was worthy of dismissing the 3 (or more) points that were carried by the speeding tickets meaning I got 0 points in total, and give me a short disqualification instead of banning me completely despite the odds not being in my favour. All I can say is a big Thankyou, and she is the only reason I will be continuing my apprenticeship. ”

Jen Law
Partner
“I recently contacted slee Blackwell, with only 3 weeks to a court date for a speeding offence. Sarah (Jen’s secretary) called me back the next day after talking to Sarah as promised she called me back with all information I required and every question I asked answered. On my court date I met with Jen who was nothing short of amazing! This being my first ever court appearance Jen made me feel completely at ease, I of course never knew what to expect, Jen talked me through the entire process. Throughout the hearing Jen was admirable in how she represented me and my case, I’m beyond happy that I avoided a disqualification, which is all thanks to Jen. If I ever found myself in this situation again (which I hope I don’t) my first call would be for Jen to represent me. I cannot recommend Jen and Sarah anymore! ”

“After phoning around a number of solicitors and been quoted crazy money I was advised to speak to Poole and Alcock by a friend of mine. Best decision I could have made. Tim Edgley was refreshing to deal with and made me feel extremely comfortable in a worrying time. The outcome of the case was 100% better than expected and can’t thanks Tim and the team enough. Highly recommend. ”

Chris Wong

Works with Kathryn Lill
“Can’t recommend Chris enough, from the first phone conversation I had with him he put me at ease, was easy to talk to, non judgemental and down to earth. I gave him the full story, even probably irrelevant details and he was patient and understanding. His knowledge of the area really shone through as he was then able to take on the information I’d thrown at him, understand my situation and translate it into something the magistrates would understand. He went above and beyond, even supporting and advising my family through the process. He was straight talking, honest, and gave me full confidence. I went in with very realistic expectations, set by Chris, these were then exceeded, so I am incredibly grateful. Thank you for all of your support and understanding Chris. ”
