Top 10 of 951 law firms for Breach of Human Rights, Human rights

Law firms ranked by client reviews

This area covers alleged violations of the rights protected by the European Convention on Human Rights, as implemented in the UK by the Human Rights Act 1998, when a public body or authority acts unlawfully. A solicitor investigates whether a public decision, policy or action breached rights such as the right to a fair trial, privacy, or freedom from discrimination, and assesses available remedies. They draft and issue claims, guide you through the evidence, and advise on requests for remedies or damages. Proceedings often involve the High Court and, where relevant, consultation with public bodies.

Where a solicitor protects your position

Rights breaches can lead to urgent declarations or damages, and may require public bodies to change policies or practices. A solicitor coordinates evidence, drafts pleadings, and negotiates settlements or remedies, including binding orders or declarations that a breach occurred and what must be done to rectify it. They ensure procedural deadlines are met and the case aligns with relevant Strasbourg jurisprudence where applicable.

I began my journey with Thomson’s not knowing what to expect and very quickly my fears were put at ease by the kind and caring nature of Emma. Professional to the hilt she helped me to feel that I mattered and enabled me to tell my story of the abuse I suffered as a child in a care setting. In doing so I was able to have my story told and my voice heard. The local authorities admitted liability and this led to a successful and more than satisfactory outcome to my case. I would thoroughly recommend Emma and Thomson’s to anyone out there who has gone through any kind of historic abuse. The care and respect you get from day 1 is second to none

I live in London but was recommended M&K Immigration solicitors in Luton by family friends. My first contact with the solicitors was in person for a free 30 minute consultation. Other solicitors I had previously contacted wanted from £250 upwards for a consultation. In circumstances where you require urgent advice and are limited on costs it is invaluable to be given a free consultation. I instructed M&K solicitors to represent a family member in an Immigration Detention Centre who had been served with a Removal Direction on 16th October. Within 4 working days (21st October) Anisha (solicitor) had the removal direction cancelled. In addition following a successful bail hearing the relation was released from the Immigration Detention Centre within two weeks from when the solicitors had been instructed. Following the solicitors advice a human rights application was submitted which will also mean the relation can regulate their status in the UK. As a family we are very grateful for Ashrat (firm partner) and Anisha's (solicitor) swift response to a time sensitive matter. We were kept up to date throughout their instruction through emails, telephone calls and whatsapp messages including at weekends and in the early hours.

It was certainly our good luck that at a critical stage of our immigration process, and in the midst of uncertainty, we happened to come across OTB Legal online. From day one of our consultation, we were very impressed with Mark for his personal approach towards our case and being very attentive and detail-oriented. Our case, which was based on human rights, was complex in nature and the whole process took nearly 5 years. During this entire exhausting process, all hurdles were dealt with professional guidance and excellent treatment on every step. Thank you very much Mark and OTB for dealing with our matter so efficiently while considering the emotional factor and bringing the expected positive results. We are very satisfied and grateful for the excellent work done in achieving the visa. For any immigration cases, we highly recommend Mark and OTB Legal for their vast knowledge, experience and explicit step by step directions. Thank you ever so much. Mr. and Mrs. Dalvi.
