I had approached several companies and none of them would help me, Richard Nelson LLP were kind enough to give me the time to explain my circumstance, could see that I was out of my depth and needed help. I never engaged with Mark Wilson so I cannot comment of him as an individual, however Andy Maxfield his associate. Andy was really good, could understand my circumstance, showed realistic empathy for my circumstance along with delivering realistic expectations. He offered helpful and practical advice during the process and to support me going forward. I'm truly grateful to his team for the work they did. They worked really hard to try to organise and summarise some confusing data, present a concise and factual argument to the HMRC whom they already had a relationship with which allowed them to manage the approach in a manner that was controlled and specific and controlled the narrative. The cost was significant as a normal working person on a normal salary, but it was inline with industry standard costs for this level of expertise. I did not feel taken advantaged of and the reality is it cost what it cost. If i had been taken to court by HMRC the costs would have been more significant. It takes as long as it takes and you need to do as much leg work as possible for them to work efficiently and effectively on your behalf. I would recommend Richard Nelson for any normal person whom is struggling to understand the complex and frightening nature of tax issues especially if you have never been registered for self employment like I hadn't.
