ALEKS I
not satisfied - value for value - ZERO
I engaged Russell-Cooke to assist with a complex property and estate matter and was ultimately very disappointed with the service I received. My expectation was that I would receive clear strategic advice, practical guidance, and efficient legal representation focused on achieving a resolution. Instead, I experienced a process that felt overly focused on lengthy correspondence and repeated drafting, with little tangible progress toward the outcome we were seeking. A significant concern was value for money. Drafts often required substantial revisions before they reflected our instructions, and it frequently felt as though we were contributing much of the strategic thinking ourselves while continuing to incur high legal fees. Despite raising concerns about costs and asking for a clearer strategy, I did not feel those concerns were adequately addressed. What disappointed me most was the lack of a clear roadmap. Rather than setting out a defined strategy, likely scenarios, costs, and recommended next steps, the matter seemed to proceed incrementally, resulting in increasing fees without corresponding progress. I appreciate that legal disputes can be complex and that outcomes cannot be guaranteed. However, clients should reasonably expect efficient advice, strong strategic leadership, transparent cost management, and work product that reflects the fees being charged. In my experience, those expectations were not met. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Russell-Cooke and would encourage prospective clients to ensure they have a clearly defined strategy, scope of work, and cost expectations before engaging the firm. We worked with Andrew Bird initially and to dispute matters moved onto Alison Regan. Quite honestly we did a better job as opposed to thousands of dollars spent.
