I was arrested by the police and taken to HMP Belmarsh. I was not told of the reason for my arrest neither was i charged with any offence. My family contacted Somsul Hoque for ABV Solicitors for his assistance. Somsul kindly came to visit me at prison and pursued the courts and challenged the reason for my detention. The court then contacted the prison to release me immediately. I was asked to appear at court for contempt of court which was discontinued. I can barely put into words the gratitude I feel towards them as they worked tirelessly towards a hopeful acquittal (not guilty) verdict as I pleaded in self defence. I say hopeful because there isn’t certainty of anything especially when going against an allegation as serious as ‘assault against a police officer’. Martin Hawkes

After the home raiding and arrest of my son and his girlfriend I was very anxious and unsure of what to do but was referred to Fergus Harrington of ABV solicitors. Fergus was very helpful and quick to get to the police station to help them out and kept me updated at every opportunity he got. The charges of supply of class A and B drugs, money laundering, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on an emergency worker were given and both were unfortunately put on remand due to the severity of crimes and quantity of drugs that was on their person/property. Fergus got to work very quickly and we had one out on bail/electronic monitor in no time and the other with a guilty plea to remain in the remand ctr until the trial date by his own choice. Fergus worked tirelessly with our family and the defendants and was always there to help answer any questions and give us the support that was needed. By the time trial came, Fergus and his team along with the barrister had advised us of the possible outcomes and convictions that they may receive which was anywhere up to 7 years. Fergus worked tirelessly along with the barrister and got one defendant acquitted of all charges and the other (my son) done everything he was advised to do by Fergus and after 10.5 months of being on remand the sentencing was finally done with as no trial was needed in the end and so now only has another month to serve and with Fergus’ help should be released on electronic monitor any day now. I can not express how much Fergus made this terrible and distressing time for the defendants and us family members as easy as possible with the help to understand the very complex and complicated legal system and will forever be grateful to him and his team at ABV for helping us. We had the best outcomes possible for the severity of the charges and I wholeheartedly believe that if it were not for him and the support he provided we would not have had the same outcome that we did. I thank you Fergus and ABV, and to anyone reading this I would 100% advise you to use the firm in any legal matters you need.

A huge thank you to Fergus Harrington of ABV solicitors who got me the best result I could possibly ask for. He is not just a typical solicitor, but an outstanding character who thoroughly understands his role, goes above and beyond, and delivers excellent results. I have had multiple solictors and Fergus is by far the best solicitor I have ever had. I faced charges of class A drug supply and Fergus raised the defence of modern slavery using various experts which allowed for my charges to be completely dropped. Fergus was very professional, supportive and helpful throughout the whole case. He was swift in his response when I had questions or any concerns. He demonstrated that he truly cared about me and my case and knew what he was doing the whole time. He managed the process in an effective manner, going through each necessary step in timely fashion, as I had to have multiple psychologist reports which were prepared before the court date. He made sure that I was comfortable and even made sure I was looked after at his office where the reports took place. Fergus was always readily available to speak to throughout the process and made sure that at every step that he was updating me on what was going on and making me aware of my options, encouraging me not to give up when it felt very overwhelming. He understood the modern slavery defence very well and clearly had experience with it and also explained this to me which allowed me to get the help I needed. He also understood my own personal needs, as someone who struggles with their mental health he made sure to always approach the situation sensitively and professionally, always putting my safety and wellbeing first. I was overjoyed to receive the positive result that I did because it has completely changed my life and without Fergus I would not have been able to achieve this. He also made sure that I was able to go on a family wedding holiday whilst I was on a gps curfew tag which meant the world to me, he made sure to advocate for me when I was not sure it would be approved. Once we chose Abv to represent us, we were assigned to Ms. Rasna Loi Senior Litigator. She obtained critical evidence, and pursued the prosecution to produce their evidence on time. Excellent investigative skills, reported to me with detailed case information.
