Back in 2018 we used Beswicks to carry out the sale of our property, which went smoothly. So we felt confident approaching them with a more serious issue we were suffering, harassment from a neighbour. Beswicks allocated us a solicitor who they felt suited this situation, and we had a meeting and PAID them £180 for her expert advice. Unfortunately this professional solicitor missed the fact that our main piece of evidence wasn’t sufficient, and even though our whole case was based on this, she told us we had a good case. We pressed it home with them what our budget was and how we were funding it, which she agreed the budget was sufficient. The work carried out by the solicitor and her assistant was lazy at best, failing to gather any further evidence or present the case how we wanted. She went on to give further bad advice during the lead up to court. Our court case got adjourned due to Covid in June 2020, and the firm are still trying to charge us the full £3000 barrister fees for not even attending court. When the barrister got involved in the case, Beswicks attitude towards the case changed (as we believe the barrister had noticed the evidence our case relied on wasn’t what we were previously told) and we were told the case was bound to fail after they invoiced double our original budget. After complaining about the service received, Beswicks stopped the retainer no longer representing us, without actually making it to court. The case eventually made it to court, and failed on 2 things that Beswicks had failed to correctly/professionally advise on, costing us a further £14,000. After a few letters between us, Beswicks broke contact….for 12 months when they suddenly through a massively inflated bill with a years worth of interest and contractual costs added to it. Beswicks have already had £7500 out of us for a case that shouldn’t of happened, and are now pursuing court action for the sum of £39,389. 10x our original budget, and probably pushing my family into bankruptcy. This whole experience has already cost us £20,500 and with the money Beswicks are pursuing it will be £59,889 for a case that wouldn’t have even started if Beswicks had provided the correct legal advice. If their experienced solicitor had noticed our evidence could never of been relied upon they wouldn’t have had more than the original £180. From recent experiences there are 2 types of solicitors, ones who genuinely want to help. And the ones who see £££ and want to get their share of the pot. I’ll let you decided which one Beswicks Legal are….. The effect this has had on our family’s mental health is enough to push many people over the edge
