This work covers challenges to the refusal of a school placing request where a parent seeks a specific school for a child and the local authority has refused. A solicitor in this area helps families understand the grounds for challenging the decision, the process for appealing, and how statutory timescales apply. They may assist with gathering evidence about the child’s needs, communicating with the local authority, and preparing an appeal to the appropriate panel if required.
The solicitor explains the procedures, timelines, and evidential requirements involved in reviewing a placing decision, including interactions with the local authority and potential next stages such as an independent admissions appeal. They identify any procedural or substantive issues that could affect the outcome, including whether the decision aligns with relevant admissions policies and statutory duties.
