This work covers taking oaths and affirmations, and attesting or swearing documents for use in court, in contracts, or for international matters. A solicitor acting as a notary issues jurats, administers statutory declarations, and authenticates signatures on affidavits and other documents, often for submission to courts, tribunals, government departments or overseas authorities. They also certify copies of documents and advise on the correct form of oath or affirmation to suit the document’s purpose, ensuring the process follows notarial rules and time limits.
The stakes lie in ensuring that an oath or affirmation is properly administered and that signatures are correctly attested, as false statements or improper witnessing can invalidate documents and expose the signer to penalties or criminal liability. A regulated notary provides professional accountability, uses protected client funds, and follows formal conduct rules that govern the authenticity and admissibility of the documents.

Tagged solicitor Tina Staves
This was my second attempt at being a first time buyer, and although the entire process was stressful, absolutely none of that was from my dealings with Howells, and particular Tina Staves who was managing my account. Communication was always prompt, and in the days leading up to completion, all hiccoughs were discussed and Tina was an absolute star at keeping in touch and letting me know what was going on. If I ever do wind up purchasing another property in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Howells for their conveyancing support.
