After more than two months of failing to resolve my claim over a minor accident, my insurance company passed my file on to Mr Donaldson. While this was a minor claim, due to the length of time for which it was unresolved, I had my concerns and anxieties. Mr Donaldson recognised this immediately and he did his best to alleviate my worries without offering unwarranted guarantees. He kept me informed timeously of any progress and did not display a hint of arrogance when dealing with me. Most importantly, anything that he said he would do, he done. Our solicitors were extremely disrespectful — rude emails without any respect and promptness was the best they gave us. Actually trolling, I would have had better communication and empathy from a kid on Roblox which is a disgrace for a law firm. I did try to communicate with them to the end, but I might as well have given up earlier as the process stressed me out so much that my mental health was affected. When I tried to call them out on their behaviour, they apologised that 'I felt aggreived' as if they were not at fault at all, and then attempted to charge a fee despite a failed service from their part, saying that this IS their normal standard of working. Absolute disgrace.

If you can avoid them, we highly recommend doing so. We used Watermans for their solicitor services based on recommendations from First Mortgage. The communication was extremely poor; our file felt neglected, and we had to chase them for updates. Neither the buyer nor we were in a chain—the flat was unoccupied for three months, and we were first-time buyers. Halfway through the process, they had to change our solicitor due to family problems, leaving us without answers for two weeks. The process was far from smooth. It was very disorganised, and when we called them to stress the urgency of the matter, as we couldn't afford the overlap of double rent and mortgage payments, we were laughed at. Two days before getting the keys, we finally received an update and a call from the director to apologise. While we appreciated the call, it did not help and felt like an excuse for their lack of professionalism.
