Extremely disappointing experience with NBB Waldrons. I had used the firm previously, but following the handling of a recent commercial property purchase I will not be using them again. My concerns were not based on one isolated mistake. In my experience there were repeated communication issues, poor internal handover, missed lender requirements and a lack of clear ownership of the transaction. The lender’s solicitors originally sent their requirements to Waldrons in early July. After the solicitor handling the matter left the firm, correspondence later showed the replacement solicitor having to request key lender documents again because he had not received them. I also attended their office for independent legal advice connected with the finance. Despite bringing the requested identification, the required ID verification and certification was not completed. Waldrons later acknowledged this in writing and offered a 50% reduction in their fee. While I am not suggesting that this is a formal admission of professional negligence, I consider it a clear acknowledgment that the service had fallen short. After repeatedly chasing for progress and eventually making a formal complaint, Waldrons then decided to cease acting, leaving me having to transfer a live commercial property transaction to another firm. Their formal complaints process is still ongoing, and I am also taking independent advice regarding the handling of the matter. Based purely on my own experience, I found the overall standard of service unacceptable for a professional firm handling an important and time-sensitive commercial transaction. I have retained the email correspondence supporting the events described above.

Our duties of confidentiality prevent us from responding publicly to the detailed chronology or providing the wider context to the matters referred to in your review. It would also be inappropriate for us to debate the merits of the complaint online before our investigation has concluded. We take the concerns raised seriously. In the meantime, the firm will cooperate with your replacement solicitors to facilitate an orderly transfer of the matter.
