Shocking and deeply disappointing experience. This firm instructed bailiffs to collect a debt from a charity that did not owe the money. Despite this being made clear, they were apparently content for the money to be taken while individuals connected with the situation were going through counselling. For a professional legal firm, this behaviour shows a worrying lack of care, diligence, and basic compassion. Solicitors should be ensuring the right party is being pursued for a debt, not allowing enforcement action against organisations that have no responsibility for it. Very concerning conduct and not what you would expect from a regulated profession.
Thank you for your review – as you are aware we have been in correspondence with yourself for a number of months about money you owe us for work you instructed us on. You agreed the money was outstanding and still did not pay. A payment plan was agreed by you but no payments were made. The correct party was served and the bailiffs attended at the correct registered office. You continually engaged with us in relation to the debt and agreed it was owed. I reiterate our position remains that this was a valid debt due to our firm and that the debt was established. We were entitled to instruct enforcement agents on our behalf to recover the said debt and an enforcement writ was issued. Subsequently, valid enforcement action was taken. There is no evidence to suggest that the actions of the enforcement were invalid or illegal and our view remains is that the actions taken were valid and justified. Prior to the visit by the bailiffs, ample opportunity had been provided to demonstrate third-party occupation and ownership of assets. Finally, with regard to people being present going through counselling, these circumstances were taken into account by the bailiffs and avoided rooms where this was possible, kept disruption to a minimum and no discussions were conducted in front of third parties.
Hayley N was exceptional in her communication as the solicitor for the sale of my property. After previously having issues solicited when selling and purchasing homes in the past, I have been very pleased by the constant updates and information provided by Hayley and Forbes solicitors in general during a stressful time when selling a property close to Christmas. I would recommend them again to anyone!

My company had some problems getting paid off of a client for some subcontracting works done at Christmas time. I spoke with Michael Swan at Forbes on the phone and after a small fee he had written up the legal document to ensure the client paid within a set time frame… the letter never even made the mail box. 4 and a half hours later they had settled the invoice in full on the same day after nearly 4 months of myself requesting payment. 100% recommend if you are having problems with payments then Michael is the man to speak too. What an amazing results after being owed thousands for nearly 4 months.
