This work covers the drafting and negotiation of agreements for engaging contractors or freelancers, including terms of engagement, payment, IP rights, confidentiality, liability and termination. A solicitor helps ensure the contract clearly sets duties, risk allocation and compliance, supporting orderly onboarding and ongoing governance of contractor work and any sub-contracting.

What a solicitor handles in these matters

The solicitor drafts or reviews terms of engagement, payment schedules, IP assignment, data protection and confidentiality clauses, limitation of liability, indemnities, and dispute resolution provisions. They liaise with procurement, finance and the client’s in-house teams, and may address tendering, supplier management and termination in line with contract strategy and risk controls.

Tagged solicitor Mike Elliott

I used Mike Elliott for a dispute I had with a contractor. The service was excellent. Mike was really good at both marshalling the arguments for my case and taking the emotion out of it so that we put a clear and logical position to the other side. They quickly settled without me needing to commence full legal proceedings. I would fully recommend to anyone in a similar position to use Mike.
