Gdpr Readiness covers helping organisations align their data practices with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It focuses on preparing for compliant processing before issues arise, including governance, risk assessment, policy development, data mapping, and incident response planning. A solicitor practices this area by reviewing data flows, drafting data protection policies and data processing agreements, and advising on lawful bases, DPIAs, and subject access processes. Practical steps and audits shape how organisations implement controls and demonstrate accountability.
What a solicitor handles in these matters
The solicitor handles provisions, structures and procedures around data processing, security measures, breach notification, data subject rights, and supplier contracts. They assess processing activities, advise on DPIAs, draft or review data processing agreements, and coordinate with IT for governance, records of processing, and incident response. Engagements often involve cross‑functional teams and interaction with the ICO, regulators, and external processors.
