Excellent. Solicitors are generally not a great profession. Lacking in initiative, lacking in positivity, often greedy, and inefficient to boot.
Battens are not in this category at all. From my limited experience I would say they do an excellent job.

Advice to new clients in transacting a new Will etc and family affairs

Battens are very experienced and I felt, as a new client but with family legal affairs that had to be faced,
that they managed this with great diplomacy as well as efficiency. They listened and immediately
I was told what the proceedure would be for my particular situation. They told me what could and
couldn't be done, and clarified their part as well as letting me know clearly what I had to do by myself.
All agreements were carried out quickly and efficiently. Also my new lawyer in Sherborne had an excellent young lady paralegal with her (who had a very good knowledge of legal affairs, knew exactly what she was doing, and transacted all agreements very quickly and efficiently and also with discreet sympathy and understanding - very good) and I was given advice as to how to transact my
legal affairs which was then quickly sent to me in writing.
I felt that Battens had the correct balance of listening/giving advice and efficiency with the correct
amount of sympathy and understanding and experience. I felt much safer when I had seen my new
lawyer and that she would reassure me that I would have my affairs in order. I had particularly I had requested a lady solicitor. (I had moved from Scotland and this is why I wished to find a new lady
solicitor - I am between Salisbury and Shaftesbury and Battens was highly recommended by friends
in this part of the country.)
I am very grateful and believe that I found exactly the right firm and that I have been very well looked after and exactly the right balance between professionalism, efficiency and kindness. Also it
did help that Battens already knew my firm of Stockbrokers in Bristol and also my Accountants at
Charlton.

I would not recommend this solicitor. My true experience has been that unfortunately my grandmother in her vulnerable state has still not received her money after 2.5 years that she should have inherited from her ex partner. Our families emails are ignored, our calls missed, their promises and their self imposed deadlines broken and we would question the duplicate charges that have been put through charging us for when they send us duplicate documents so I would query if we are not being charged twice for a number of things. My nan has not had her money still. Every email we send them asking them when they are going to do what they have agreed costs us an enormous amount and is never actioned satisfactorily. For the amount of money we have been charged as a family, i don’t consider it value for money. After this matter has been resolved, we will be going with a different solicitor. I ask that they please do better in the future.
