I would recommend the local firm to anyone seeking legal support

Jenni Gear managed my case professionally and to satisfaction. She considered that I work full time with shifts and ensured flexibility. I would recommend the local firm to anyone seeking legal support. They also supported me in buying my house.

Excellent service from Natalie and Andrea

I recently used Harper MacLeod during a separation from my husband. Natalie Bruce drafted and confirmed the settlement agreement and division of assets, and Andrea Ross handled the transfer of the marital property into my name. Natalie and Andrea were both brilliant during what was quite a fraught time. They were friendly, understanding, kept in regular contact as things progressed, and were incredibly patient and professional. I would use their services again and would not hesitate to recommend Harper MacLeod, and Natalie and Andrea specifically, to others in my situation. Thank you both for all of your help.

Selling Made Easy

My husband and I have sold property using Harper Macleod LLP. The process was made easy due to professionalism and guidance from Susan Breen, our solicitor. From our first conversation to our last 'thank you', we have been kept informed of all aspects of the sale and communication was always polite and professional.

Amazing service

This was the first time we bought a house and I think we would have been lost without Laura, our solicitor. She was amazing from day one, extremely knowledgeable, professional, and reachable. We got to this company by reading reviews online, and we were so lucky to find her. We took a gamble as we were moving from England to Inverness and we didn't know anything about Scottish laws or purchasing process, but she made it so easy for us: she explain everything, had our backs when needed, had advice. I really felt she cared, and she was in the process with us all the way. She made us trust the company she works for, to go there for any legal services in the future. Thank you again Laura! What a pleasure to work with you. You raised the standards of service we want to receive in the future.

PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE

Harper Macleod have been my family solicitor since my father died and have been superb to deal with. Their trusts and tax team have been supportive and caring in their dealings with my Mum as she slid into Alzheimer's. Andrea Ross gets a special mention for handling our property conveyancing and has been so helpful, proactive and efficient throughout. Having dealt with property transactions for many years with so many slow solicitors out there - we recommend HM for any such transactions in Scotland - superb service and great team members.

I'm very grateful to Angus Brown at the Inverness office. He kindly gave half an hour of his time to explain the relevant parts of the Prescription and Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973. I did not feel under pressure to engage his services. He was so helpful in bullet pointing the salient points in case law and where to find out more.

Absolutely useless save your money. Was dealing with these crooks and they didn't keep in touch with me, ended up giving me less than a weeks notice to attend court to be a witness. They couldn't understand the evidence they managed to find, didn't research it or put any time into understanding it. They utterly wasted my time. Stay away from these clowns honestly do yourself a favour. The worst representation you can find.

Please avoid this company - it will involve waiting months for a response and extra added stress. I have waited 2 and a half years since starting my claim and still no further forward. I accepted settlement claim months and months ago and have heard nothing back since then. Constantly having to phone to chase it up and get told every time I will get a call back - never do. I have sent numerous emails and again no response. No regard for customers who are experiencing a stressful situation. I am not normally one who leaves reviews but I think it is absolutely necessary to warn others so they do not have to experience the same stress I have had to deal with and hopefully now the company will get back to me.

I saw this firm work from the other side. I took someone to court and they chose Harper and MacLeod to represent them. They where unpleasant, unprofessional, misleading and incorrect on almost every occasion. I represented myself in court twice and won my case so their client had to pay me and god knows how many unnecessary thousands of pounds to them. This case could have been dealt with quickly over 1 or 2 phone calls. Instead they dragged it out for months and months sending endless amounts of misleading, incorrect and ignorant emails. Every email and court appearance costing their clients serious amount of money. Their client will have no idea how easily this could have been dealt with and how much money they could have saved. Avoid these crooks.

About this branch

Description

In 1988, Lorne Crerar and another young partner in a Glasgow court firm took a couple of support staff and converted its business division, which had recently started, into a separate commercial practice. The new start was Harpers, which subsequently took over a niche corporate firm called Macleods, to become Harper Macleod. In 2002, Martin Darroch joined the firm as Finance Director and was appointed Chief Executive in 2006 - Harper Macleod was the first firm in Scotland to appoint a non-lawyer chief executive - with the now Professor Crerar as Chairman. Over the years the firm went from strength to strength, expanding its footprint all over Scotland. In 2014, the firm took over niche private client practice, Bird Semple, to significantly extend its offering in personal legal services. Today, Harper Macleod is one of the largest professional partnerships in Scotland, serving clients and their interests in Scotland, the UK and beyond and generating in excess of £26 million in turnover - a figure that has consistently grown regardless of the economic backdrop.
