Despite 30 years of very good relations with tenants in various properties a couple of years ago we found ourselves in a situation where we regretfully had to end a tenancy by giving notice. Whilst the conversation wasn't easy the tenants vacated in their own chosen time frame, paying only for the time they were in the property, without an apparent acrimony and immediately receiving their full deposit. It came as a shock when we received an accusation of illegal eviction and harassment - a criminal offence which carries the penalty of reimbursement of one years rent. Despite being an entirely false, the accusation and fabrication of a criminal case, is very disturbing.
