Top 10 of 775 law firms for Obtaining Payment, Debt and Tax Law

Law firms ranked by client reviews

This work covers recovering money that is owed, from sending demand letters to taking court action to secure payment. A solicitor in this area pursues a debt through the civil courts, negotiates with the debtor, and arranges enforcement if the debt remains unpaid, such as by applying for a County Court judgment and enforcing it with options like enforcement notices, charging orders, or control orders. The work may involve tracing assets, handling disputes about the debt, and advising on the most effective route to recover funds while complying with the applicable court rules and procedures.

What a solicitor handles in these matters

Drafting and issuing court claims, managing responses, pursuing judgments, and progressing enforcement actions require familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules, County Court and High Court procedures, and enforcement mechanisms such as warrants of control, attachment of earnings, or charging orders. The solicitor coordinates with the client, the court, and, if needed, enforcement officers to secure payment and address any disputes or set-offs raised by the debtor.

Mark Wilson

Tagged solicitor Mark Wilson

I had approached several companies and none of them would help me, Richard Nelson LLP were kind enough to give me the time to explain my circumstance, could see that I was out of my depth and needed help. I never engaged with Mark Wilson so I cannot comment of him as an individual, however Andy Maxfield his associate. Andy was really good, could understand my circumstance, showed realistic empathy for my circumstance along with delivering realistic expectations. He offered helpful and practical advice during the process and to support me going forward. I'm truly grateful to his team for the work they did. They worked really hard to try to organise and summarise some confusing data, present a concise and factual argument to the HMRC whom they already had a relationship with which allowed them to manage the approach in a manner that was controlled and specific and controlled the narrative. The cost was significant as a normal working person on a normal salary, but it was inline with industry standard costs for this level of expertise. I did not feel taken advantaged of and the reality is it cost what it cost. If i had been taken to court by HMRC the costs would have been more significant. It takes as long as it takes and you need to do as much leg work as possible for them to work efficiently and effectively on your behalf. I would recommend Richard Nelson for any normal person whom is struggling to understand the complex and frightening nature of tax issues especially if you have never been registered for self employment like I hadn't.
