I was directed to use their legal aid solicitor for a family law/guardianship matter. The solicitor was very nice but had little understanding of matters discussed. They told me I needed to attend court but they wouldn’t be there. The other legal representatives on the day were shocked I was unaccompanied. There were multiple errors in the filed documents, which I discovered on a Sunday before attending court on the Monday. These were details that had been assumed by the solicitor rather than asked. I was grateful that they responded and amended documents on the same day when I raised the errors. I didn’t receive any guardianship documents following the court ruling and when followed up with the solicitor a few months later, they tried to fob me off before agreeing to arranging the documents to be sent by the local authority. All this aside, I have used their firm previously for my will and intend to return to revise that. Legal aid seemed to procure a poorer service.

I have been represented by Shaun Hulme throughout my case, which involved obtaining a court order for my children to live with me and securing permission to relocate with them, as well as dealing with my divorce. Shaun has been nothing short of exceptional throughout the entire process. He has been consistently appropriate, supportive, and highly professional. His communication has been outstanding — always polite, always helpful, and always able to explain complex legal matters in a clear and concise way. When you’re dealing with something as stressful and emotionally heavy as children and divorce, having someone who can guide you with clarity and reassurance makes an enormous difference. Shaun has made an incredibly difficult period feel manageable, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better solicitor. I’m deeply grateful for his expertise, patience, and dedication. When I first got in contact with Jessica Yates at Pontefract solicitors I was very nervous and anxious, but once I started to talk to Jessica I felt so much better and then when I met her in person she was very kind very sympathetic and understanding. Absolutely amazing law firm and worth every penny! Shaun and Jordan were brilliant, patient and understanding of my trauma. They stuck with me throughout the 2 years it’s taken in family court processes (through no fault of their own) their understanding of domestic violence was excellent! They were thorough, honest and fair and handled my multiple meltdowns really well. I really couldn’t have asked for a better pair or service. Thank you both!
