I highly recommend Askews Solicitors Limited to anyone in a similar situation. As a first-time buyer, part of my deposit came from Sri Lanka as a gift from my parents, which made the process more complex. Initially, I worked with Hewitts Solicitors, Emma Haworth, but unfortunately, we faced several challenges due to a lack of clear guidance on the documentation required and very poor communication. Previous buyer a an Indian Doctor who was trying to buy the same house with the same firm and the same solicitor faced the same scenario according to the seller of my property. Clearly there is some issues looking at it. Looking back, had we instructed Askews Solicitors from the beginning, I am confident the transaction would have completed in under three months. Instead, we lost valuable time with Hewitts law firm. In summary if the source of funds are from Asia based countries DO NOT GO AHEAD WITH HEWITTS.

Customer service was not ideal. I had to do a lot of chasing and there was huge mix up with my mortgage funds.
Appalling service received by the conveyancing team at the Newton Aycliffe branch. Supposedly A week from completion and they haven’t chased a query that was apparently sorted 4 weeks ago. AVOID!!!

Excellent experience updating my Will with Hollie Hammond. The whole process was smooth from start to finish. Only took 2 weeks. I wasn't rushed and eveything was explained in detail. Can’t speak highly enough of Hewitts Solicitors. Danielle and her team, Jasmine and Kate, were excellent from start to finish. Always kept us in the loop, easy to get hold of when we needed them, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. They’re clearly very knowledgeable but also approachable and down to earth, which made a big difference during what can be a stressful process.
