Excellent result

So many things to praise, in the way our somewhat difficult case was handled. Difficult because of extreme and unreasonable delays from our landlord. And then a specific dispute about a particular clause, which could potentially have necessitated resorting to tribunal. This was handled by Martin Tolhurst Partnership with sufficient sensitivity and firmness to ensure an excellent outcome in the end. The process took in excess of 12 months when normally it might have been expected to take 3 maximum. All that time we never felt put on the backburner, thanks to regular updates and emails.

I have used Martin Tolhurst for many years for my families Will, Trusts etc. On this occasion I required a deed of variation. This was completed quickly and efficiently from my first phone call to the office and completion of the document by Sarah Begley. She was easy to talk to but also professional.

It always amazes me how long a sale can take. This is the second time I have used them, for the same House, buying, and then this time selling. I am assured that Martin Tolhurst kept their eye on the sale and progressed it though as I required. All was completed in my time frame. Hopefully I will not be selling again but if so I would have no hesitations in using them again.

I’m beyond disappointed with the service received. My property completed back in November yet as of today the Land Registry still hasn’t been updated in my name. The communication has been nothing short of chaotic. I’ve now been told two completely different reasons for the delay. First it was blamed on the Land Registry backlog. Then I was told it was due to missing documentation from the seller’s solicitor. At no point was I kept properly informed. In fact, had I not chased this myself I wouldn’t even be aware there was an issue. The lack of transparency is staggering. Yet in a previous call I was told they’ve been chasing the matter weekly. Which is it? Because it can’t be both. I question at what point I was going to be made aware, on my last call I was told in fairness we only became aware in may so it hasn’t been a long time. It’s now July and I find this insulting. One assistant to Richard Carter claimed they had no knowledge of any delays. Richard carter is away until Wednesday the 17th so I assume I will be in limbo until Then? This constant contradiction and misinformation is deeply unprofessional. I have now started logging all call times and correspondence and I fully expect them to be reviewed. I paid for a professional service, not to be left in the dark for months on end. The only person who has been honest and upfront throughout has been Melissa and that deserves recognition. As of right now I am unsure of the issue, perhaps I would be I’ve I wasn’t told 3 separate reasons within 24 hours, so it’s difficult to trust the honesty. Which in my Opinion shocking, should you require a conveyancer please look for one that you can trust because in this instance it shows you can’t. This is not over. I will be pursuing this further.

We spoke with you yesterday. You completed in November and our Land Registry application was submitted in the priority period in December. Unfortunately, like all solicitors, we are experiencing lengthy delays at the Land Registry. They considered the application in May, and raised a requisition requiring a statement of truth from the seller. We requested that immediately from the sellers solicitors. They updated us yesterday to advise their client is returning this. We understand your frustration but you will appreciate the delay here is by the Land Registry and beyond our control. Your interest has been protected at the Land Registry at all times. We hope that the Land Registry will be able to complete the matter very shortly.

I have worked with Georgina in connection with Wills, Probate and LPA's, albeit before she joined the Martin Tolhurst Partnership. I could not recommend her more highly, as a Solicitor, or as a person, when dealing with such personal and sensitive matters, at a time when the client is likely at their most vulnerable.

We purchased a property and used Martin Tolhurst 3 years ago and had a terrible experience so was very reluctant to use this time round but very glad we did. Our solicitor Cally and her assistant Richard was absolutely amazing, any questions or emails were answered by Cally when in office and when out Richard was always on hand to answer questions especially towards the end Richard was amazing chasing our buyers solicitors and keeping us up to date. Thank you for making the selling and buying process less stressful!

I cannot recommend Gemma and her team at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors highly enough. They supported me through what turned out to be a two-year journey of selling my home and purchasing a new one, and their professionalism, expertise and dedication never wavered. They were always on hand with sound advice, reassurance and a positive attitude. Thanks to her persistence and hard work I am now happily settled in a home I absolutely love. A huge thank you to Gemma and the entire team for their patience, kindness and outstanding service throughout. Their support made all the difference, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they did.

Gemma Nie at Martin Tolhurst handled our recent property purchase brilliantly. She was professional, thorough and always quick to respond. She explained complex legal matters clearly and caught important details in the paperwork that needed addressing. Despite some challenges during the transaction, she kept things moving and brought it to a successful completion. Highly recommended for anyone needing a conveyancing solicitor.

I had a good experience using Martin Tolhurst Solicitors. My buyer's mortgage offer was about to run out, which felt quite stressful. Gemma was on the case, as well as her colleagues, to ensure the legal finalities were completed in time. Communication was excellent, as well as instruction on anything I needed to do for a smooth process. Thank you all for ensuring the chain did not break down! I have moved and feel happy and relieved! Many thanks.
