I had Ellie Davies represent me in a family court manner involving contact arrangements for my daughter. My ex partner had a dispute with me over taking my daughter on holiday and tried to place a prohibitive steps order preventing me seeing my child. Ellie was professional, approachable and supportive throughout the process. She explained my options at court, drafted several documents which really took the spirit of what I was trying to say but written in a far more professional manner than I was able to. Ellie was concise and articulate in court, ultimately gaining me an extended contact period with my daughter and securing a court ruling allowing me to take my daughter on holiday. I would recommend Ellie to anyone involved in a family court matter.

After what has been an incredibly difficult and unnecessarily complicated year, I wanted to leave a genuine thank you for the support and advice I received throughout. What should have been a relatively straightforward separation and house sale became far more difficult than it needed to be, particularly once other people began being drawn into matters that should really have remained between the parties actually involved. The advice I received was calm, practical and grounded. I was given a clear understanding of where I stood, what my options were and, importantly, where the legal boundaries actually were. In the end, I did not have to pull the trigger on any substantial legal action, but knowing that I could if things escalated made an enormous difference to my mental health. There is something incredibly reassuring about knowing that you are not trapped in a situation, that there are formal options available to you, and that there are people who understand the circumstances and can step in if necessary. That knowledge allowed me to stop second-guessing every decision, hold firmer boundaries and deal with the situation far more calmly than I otherwise would have. So, for anyone dealing with a difficult ex, particularly where a new partner, affair partner or other third party is being drawn into disputes around property, money or communication, I would absolutely recommend getting proper advice early. You may never need to take formal legal action. I ultimately did not. But simply knowing what your options are, and knowing you have someone in your corner if things get worse, can be invaluable. After the best part of a year of stress, disputes and frankly quite a lot of nonsense, I am extremely grateful for the advice, patience and reassurance I received throughout.

I honestly don’t even know where to start. After nearly 2 and a half years working with Kate and Kimberley, I can truly say they have been absolutely amazing from beginning to end. Their communication has always been clear, consistent, and reassuring. No matter how many questions I had or how many times I didn’t fully understand something, they were always patient and took the time to explain everything properly. The level of professionalism they showed throughout my case was outstanding, but what really made the difference for me was how much they genuinely cared. They didn’t just treat me like another case—they treated me like a person. This has been a long journey, but having them by my side gave me confidence every step of the way. Simon Willis has represented myself twice in a fairly nasty and complicated family court matter. I found Simon very calm, very knowledgable, very realistic and very supportive. I was given sound legal advice that enabled me to understand the family court process. Simon was very fair and polite in his correspondence to my ex partner and calmed an emotionally charged situation very professionally. I was successful in my court hearing at gaining greater access and contact with my daughter. This was primarily down to Simon and his team. I'd like to thank Rachael Hughes and her secretary, Angela Chalmers, for the way they handled the recent sales of my two properties. I was very impressed with their professionalism. Sometimes the path was not as smooth as it could have been, for reasons out of their control, but, nonetheless, everything was conducted and concluded in a very professional manner, and I hope to use their services again in the near future.

Extremely disappointing experience. We instructed Leathes Prior in connection with a significant commercial lease and nursery development. We subsequently found ourselves exposed to substantial costs associated with the condition of the property. To be clear, my criticism is not that a solicitor should have discovered structural defects. My concern is that we entered into a full repairing lease without a Schedule of Condition and I do not believe the potentially significant financial consequences of taking on responsibility for pre-existing disrepair were explained to us clearly enough before we committed. I raised these concerns formally with the firm and received their final complaint response rejecting the complaint. Having reviewed that response and the underlying correspondence, I remain deeply dissatisfied. For a transaction involving a substantial investment and a long-term lease, I expected advice that clearly translated the legal wording into the commercial and financial risks we were actually assuming. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I could not recommend Leathes Prior for this type of transaction.
Emily and Trish were fantastic when acting on behalf of one of of my sellers. It is always a pleasure to work alongside responsive and sensible solicitors. Leathers Prior helped to get this transaction to a successful conclusion despite the inefficiency of the buyers solicitor. Thank you and I will be recommending.
