Dyslexia as a disability focuses on rights against discrimination in work and access to services, and in education settings under the Equality Act 2010 and related duties. A solicitor helps with workplace adjustments, recruitment challenges, and reasonable accommodations, and can pursue claims in the employment tribunal or county court. They collect evidence, draft and respond to formal notices, negotiate settlements, and advise on witnesses and expert reports. The work is shaped by how disability discrimination and accommodation rules apply in practice.
What a solicitor handles in these matters
The solicitor handles factual disputes, evidence of impairment, and the need for reasonable adjustments, including medical or educational assessments and communications with employers, schools, or service providers; they manage the procedural steps, disclosure, and the interplay of disability rights with human rights considerations where relevant.
