Law firms ranked by client reviews
Forum shopping covers choosing the most advantageous court or tribunal to bring a dispute, often involving contracts or torts, and may hinge on where the parties or conduct are located, and on forum clauses. A solicitor assesses which forum offers favourable rules on procedure, speed, cost, and enforcement, and may draft or respond to forum or jurisdiction provisions, apply for interim relief, and consider anti-suit or stay applications. The aim is to align the dispute with a forum that best fits the client’s commercial objectives and risk profile.
What a solicitor handles in these matters
Solving where to sue involves analysing jurisdiction rules, forum clauses, and potential transfers; drafting or interpreting jurisdictional arguments, and coordinating cross-border steps if relevant. The solicitor identifies procedural advantages, interacts with the court or tribunal, and navigates any anti-suit motions or stay applications to secure a strategic position for the client.
