Sharon at Gilson Gray was a great help in doing this conveyance for the sale of my property. She made it very easy and smooth and kept me informed st all times. A lovely lady who spoke in layman’s terms and made it all simple for me to understand. I would receive them.

My experience with this firm during the purchase of my first home was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend their services. Communication was consistently poor throughout. I had to arrange the only two phone calls we ever had, and every small enquiry required me to chase multiple times - often five or more - just to get a basic update. Considering there was no chain on either side, the purchase should have been straightforward, yet it dragged on for nearly four months purely due to their lack of communication and inefficiency. The final week was particularly chaotic. Despite having an agreed completion date, I was only informed two days beforehand that they had not received two documents requiring signature, witnessing, and posting. This unnecessarily delayed completion. While I accept that I should have kept track of what remained outstanding, it is completely unacceptable for them to confirm a completion date and then suddenly realise they were missing two crucial documents. As a first-time buyer, this was supposed to be an exciting milestone, but instead it became an incredibly stressful process. Their disorganisation and unresponsiveness took away the initial joy of buying my first home, turning what should have felt like a huge achievement into a source of constant frustration. I understand that many people struggle with solicitors during the conveyancing process, but this was beyond the usual delays or slow responses - it was consistently unprofessional. Based on my experience, I highly recommend not using this firm, unless you want to endure 4 months from hell.

Had offer accepted boxing day 2025 and still waiting from these solicitors to get the contract pack emailed over to purchasing solicitors. Been 4 months and still waiting. DONT RECOMMEND!!!!!! DO NOT USE THESE AS YOUR CONVEYANCING SOLICITORS !!!!!!!!!

Where do I begin it was a terrible service from start to finish. Mortgage broker emailed for an update, Sam stated it was not a client. When I emailed him to correct him I had no apology. There was no consistent information and the information given was contradictory. I had to rely on my buyers solicitor to give me updates. On the day of completion I was sent a bill that needed to be paid before completion which was a complete surprise to me as Sam had never told me that there were additional costs that would need to be paid before completion. This essentially left me homeless for about 6 hours as I had completed on the sale of my home.

We instructed this firm for the sale and purchase of our home and it was, without exaggeration, one of the most frustrating professional experiences we have ever had. Communication was consistently poor throughout. Emails went unanswered for days or weeks, urgent call-back requests were ignored, and we were repeatedly left chasing for even the most basic updates. There was a complete lack of urgency at key points in the transaction, which very nearly caused our chain to collapse. At no stage did we feel our matter was being handled proactively or competently. After completion, the situation deteriorated further. We were overcharged £480.20 — something the firm acknowledged in writing and confirmed would be refunded in December. Three months later, we are still waiting. Repeated requests for repayment have been ignored. Even more concerning, after agreeing that we were owed money, the firm produced a bill dated 17th December which had never previously been issued to us — despite the fact we had already paid our final balance in full on 16th December. This invoice only appeared after we challenged the overpayment. The timing and circumstances of this “new” bill raise serious questions about transparency and billing practices. To compound matters, they also made an error on our Stamp Duty submission by misspelling a name. We were contacted two months after completion to urgently rectify their mistake, and we are still awaiting confirmation that this has been properly corrected. Buying and selling a property is one of the biggest financial transactions most people will ever undertake. We expected professionalism, accuracy and clear communication. Instead, we experienced delay, poor service, financial discrepancies and ongoing uncertainty. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm.
