The worst firm of solicitors I've ever dealt with. Absolutely desperate to get more money out of you.
I had to give one star unfortunately.

Poor customer service

I called with a simple query to do with my recently-deceased mother's will. I was promised a reply in 2-3 working days. I heard nothing, and rang back 5 times to try and speak to the person I originally dealt with. Every time they were busy. Left messages to call me back. Nothing. On my final call the person said, via the receptionist, that it was nothing to do with them and transferred me to someone else in another office. Truly awful client management - didn't deliver what they had promised, uncommunicative and unsympathetic to the circumstances.

Conveyancing

This firm were not remotely interested in the sale of my house and I did not speak to my solicitor until I complained.
I had a freehold, mortgage free house not in a chain and was quoted £1500
for the sale.
They took well over £3k when I sold, without invoicing me first. They literally just took it from the sale. They had said “it might come to more”, between x and y. But I purposefully ignored emails between exchange and completion and they still put £1k on.
for practically no work.
I did most of the conveyancing work. The solicitor did not understand much. She sent one email saying I had broken the planning by pitching my roof. I had a flat roof and she had not even bothered to look at my sale brochure to see what my house looked like.
A lot of the documents were inaccurate and had to be corrected
by me.
When I got my (correct) way about a shareholding in my private road being worth £350 when she said it was worth zero, and there were tens of emails about this, she said “the other side have agreed with you in order to speed things along”. No, I was correct all along. However she charged me for her time so it was a win win for her.
She never listened to me.
The whole experience was like dealing with someone who simply did not care. She certainly did not care about anything but sending me her time sheets. But they were irrelevant when she had been wasting time sending me ridiculous documents. For example getting me Fensa quotes when I did not need them, or the aforementioned pitched roof insurance. The list is extensive.
I complained to the Senior Partner but I suspect he did not read my file as he did not answer specific questions.
It is now with the ombudsman.
I will never use this firm again

Sale of my late mothers property.

I have recently completed on selling my mothers house. This has been complex and taken time as it was a shared ownership. P & G solicitors have acted on our behalf . I was pleased with their diligence and approachability in dealing with this matter.
