Very professional and very understanding

We were recommended to Gilson Gray by our estate agents. We needed a quick and efficient service to secure the property we had chosen and to this end arranged for a bridging loan. After making initial payments totalling £230 and several email communications regarding the sale they informed us they couldn't act for us due to the bridging loan. We had to engage another firm and start again, wasting the time and effort already spent. After several emails Sam Burrows agreed to a refund and asked for bank details to refund. That was on the 11th December 2025, no payment has been made. To date I have sent several emails asking when payment will be made, also made several phone calls to complaints officer just to be ignored and received no call back. I am now looking to what action to take through the solicitors licensing board to recover my money.

Had numerous issues with this firm... Put the wrong account number on completion day for my mortgage so the gunds did not go to the bank... had two active mortgages costing me money... took 6 months of battling to get a refund... Local search done on the wrong property... no email responses... weeks of calling to get through to anyone... information not sent or incorrect Avoid this firm!

Probably the biggest financial outgoing I’ve undertaken on my own and can’t thank Gilson Gray enough for their professional help and advice throughout. Any member of staff I communicated with always returned calls or e-mails and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much again for all your help and especially Brooke McCrorie who I very much appreciated simplifying everything legal and keeping me right. This company were recommended by a mortgage broker and acted for a friend our ours for the purchase of their first property, They started off OK but fell off the cliff in the later stages off the sale!!! Slow, unresponsive and unprofessional!!!! Seem to work against you not for you!!!! Use at your own peril 😞

I am a mortgage broker, and had recommended Gilson Gray to my client. If only I could turn back time now. Constant delays (took 3 week's to actually start doing anything), struggling to get hold of the case handler. Call back's missed, emails missed and a completion statement sent out with the incorrect amount on, more money requested with no explanation and no amount of additional funds to send on the communication. Seems to be a theme reading the other reviews. If you are looking for a law firm that offers an ounce of customer service, keep on scrolling, this isnt the one for you. I will NEVER recommend Gilson Gray ever again to any of my clients.
