I recently instructed Bridge McFarland LLP to handle the sale of a family member's property, acting in my capacity as Property and Financial Affairs Attorney. Throughout the process, Evie Jacklin provided an excellent standard of service. Communication was clear, professional and timely, and I was kept fully informed as the transaction progressed. The sale involved some uncertainty surrounding the purchaser's chain and the arrangements for exchange and completion. Evie handled these matters calmly and efficiently, ensuring that my concerns were understood and that the transaction progressed appropriately. What I particularly appreciated was her approachable manner, willingness to answer questions and attention to detail. Even after completion, she took care to identify original family documents held on file and arrange their safe return. When I decided to move from Grimsby to Cleethorpes I chose this company to do the conveyancing for my sale and purchase, I chose them because they had represented the seller of the flat I bought in Grimsby and it had been a really smooth transaction. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, I know that sale was smooth as a consequence of the solicitor I had used several times in Sheffield. Whilst I recognise that law firms are under an obligation to do money laundering checks I was shocked by how ruthless this company were and how poor they were in assisting me to complete it. Being in my 60s I tend to struggle with IT and when most banks are managed either online or by app it's difficult to know how to get the information. There was no support from this company and I had to at one point call the mortgage advisor at my bank to ask her how to get the information required. I had thought my bank were thorough but the solicitors made them look amateurs. I found that nearly all the communication undertaken was by email, which at times slows things down, a telephone conversation is far more productive and invariably quicker. My previous solicitors had always called to give me a weekly update so I was surprised, as I was paying far more for this companies services, that they didn't. The reliance on emails meant that when we were ready to tie the sale and purchase together we ran into difficulty as my sellers solicitors stopped replying and they waited until the Friday before completion before picking up a phone to sort it, only to find the seller's solicitors had closed their office for the day making for a really stressful weekend not knowing what was happening, or why the seller's solicitors were quiet and whether I needed to cancel my removal company. I can honestly say of the five home purchases I have made in my life this was by far the worst and most stressful and it could have all been prevented if they had used the phone more and communicated better. For me the acid test of any purchase of goods or services is to ask myself the question if I was doing it again would I repeat the purchase, I am certain that if I was to move again I would definitely not be repeating it, I would instead look for a smaller family run solicitors as my past experience tells me they give better service.

Rachel was professional, efficient and provided all the information needed in a timely manor to allow our sake to proceed. Any issues which arose were dealt with quickly and Rachel confirmed actions by email as well as keeping in contact by phone as the need arose. I have no hesitation in recommending Rachel and the company in dealing with house sales.

Fantastic solicitor from start to finish, was kept up to date every step of the way. I would certainly recommend Rachel to any of my friends and family.
