Very stressful completion with accounting errors causing severe stress

Initially exchange ok then afterwards horrid. Changing solicitor most disconcerting mid process and again last minute not good. But worst thing was the horrendous accounting errors in completion statement causing immense stress on that day. Error by £40,000 . Said I would be getting £20k on completion but rang at completion time to say it was wrong and I owed them £20 k and has to send that immediately or not complete. Allowed removal people to demand money from me too due to uncertainty caused. Still recovering and solicitors thought apologising enough. It was not any other business making such errors would have to compensate. Most distressing and unprofessional.

Zoe and Tom were friendly and professional throughout and guided Sue and I through the sale process with care that Sue felt she was in control and with me doing the admin. Their safeguarding was excellent. The only area we felt unsettled by was when the buyer failed to raise the agreed amount of the deposit and also when he paid the deposit by cheque. Zoe and Tom seemed less alarmed by this, and we think it might have been helpful to flag in advance that this was an option which more and more people are using. We had never heard of it before.
