It hasn't been the most straightforward chain for them to deal with however the service they have provided has been second to none. I wouldn't recommend this company in Chester for conveyancing. My experiences have been extremely poor. I did not find a particularly personal service. The conveyancer didn't fully introduce themselves at the outset, instead just explaining that they would be managing the case and asking for documents. It was difficult to receive an explanation of the process. And when the Trainee moved to another department there was no prior explanation that the case would be taken over by another colleague. Emails were often abrupt and when trying to explain about some of my concerns I received defensive responses and deflecting it on me. I originally asked to speak with a Manager on 26th May and I am still waiting. I have also since been told that as my purchase has stalled as the vendors have lost their own sale - I would incur a abortive fees of £350 plus VAT, I can find no record of this fee in any quotations I received.

We understand that buying a property can be a stressful process, particularly when a transaction is delayed or unable to proceed due to circumstances outside of your control. We are sorry if you felt communication fell short of the standard you expected. Following the transfer of your file, we made a number of attempts to contact you by both telephone and email for updates and discuss any concerns you had. When you asked to speak with a manager, we asked for your availability so that this could be arranged, however we did not receive a response. The offer remains open and we would still be happy to arrange a call at a time that is convenient for you. In relation to the abortive fee, our Client Care Letter, which is provided and signed at the outset of every matter, explains on the first page that if a transaction does not proceed to completion, a charge may be made for work already carried out together with any unpaid disbursements. In this case, a significant amount of work had been undertaken and disbursements paid before the matter was placed on hold, and the quoted abortive fee is substantially lower than the value of the work completed. We genuinely regret that you have been left with this impression of our service and would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further. If you would still like to speak with a manager, please get in touch with your availability and we will be happy to arrange this.

I wish I had gone with a different firm of solicitors to buy my new flat. The communication from them has been utterly awful, sending me a batch of documents without any explanation of what I need to sign and hand in, and not to mention, them chasing and chiding me for a particular document which I hadn't printed, signed and handed in - only for me to point out to them that the document was the wrong document for me, and that I had nothing to do with this document. The amount of money and time spent in printing out documents to sign was insane. I should have been entitled to bill them for my expenses and time wasted. Quite honestly, I don't know what help Oliver and Co were in making this process work smoothly for first time buyers such as myself. To anyone who is looking to buy a property and is looking for a solicitors to help, please stay clear of Oliver and Co.

In relation to your comments about documentation, there were occasions during the transaction where documents had to be updated or reissued, and additional information was required before the matter could progress. When an issue was identified with one of the documents requiring signature, a member of our team met with you at our office, printed the relevant documentation and guided you through the signing process to ensure everything was completed correctly. We are always happy to assist clients with printing documents where required and encourage clients to let us know if they need this support so that we can help. As with many conveyancing transactions, certain aspects of the process were dependent on information and responses from third parties, including the seller's solicitors and managing agents. This included the provision of updated completion figures and post-completion requirements. While we appreciate that these matters can be frustrating, some elements of the timescales involved were outside of our control. Following completion, the required notices were served and chased with the managing agents, and we continued to pursue responses where these were not forthcoming. We are sorry that we did not provide the level of service you expected. Feedback from our clients is important to us, and we will use your comments to review how we communicate with clients throughout the conveyancing process. We wish you every happiness in your new home and thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

From sale agreed on 28th February to completed by the 8th May, it was efficient, fuss free, and a big success thanks to Elan, Georgia and the team. Hope Gill-Daintith and Anna Clare make a wonderful team. For several months, I had been silently struggling with work-related stress. We have just bought our forever home and Lisa Aston supported us with the sale of our house and our onward purchase. Lisa was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She is always one step ahead, doesn't need to be chased up and nothing is too much trouble. She actually really cares about doing what is best for her clients and in my opinion that is quite rare! When an issue was identified with one of the documents requiring signature, a member of our team met with you at our office, printed the relevant documentation and guided you through the signing process to ensure everything was completed correctly. We are always happy to assist clients with printing documents where required and encourage clients to let us know if they need this support so that we can help. As with many conveyancing transactions, certain aspects of the process were dependent on information and responses from third parties, including the seller's solicitors and managing agents. This included the provision of updated completion figures and post-completion requirements. While we appreciate that these matters can be frustrating, some elements of the timescales involved were outside of our control. Following completion, the required notices were served and chased with the managing agents, and we continued to pursue responses where these were not forthcoming. We are sorry that we did not provide the level of service you expected.
