Always had fantastic service from this company for many years. Then something happened!
My experience is proof that it's the individual that makes or breaks the experience, not the company as an entity. It would appear that a locum solicitor, temporarily installed, was clearly not able to perform his duties as expected, and after 5 weeks, having confirmed that my conveyancing was proceeding according to plan, the senior partner phoned me to say that the company was withdrawing from the process as they were not equipped to deal with the level of conveyancing demanded by the property in question. This resulted in a frantic search for another solicitor who could continue the process and for £7200 I did. I also had to find accommodation at short notice, at a cost of approximately £2000(cheapish hotel). I bought a B&B and this delay resulted in a further potential loss of income of another £2000(based on 1 roomlet) or thereabouts. There are 8 rooms. It's just been an absolute horrendous experience. I'm at least 9k out of pocket and despite being told by the senior partner that there was no charge, given the circumstances, the company never refunded the £500 deposit I paid. I've never had such an awful and stressful experience in my life. So who is to blame? Not the company in my view, but individuals not doing their due diligence, or perhaps don't even care . Sueing for compensation is simply not on the cards. Whilst I was told my case was strong, it would have ended a pyric victory. No further contact, no phone call, no email taking any sort of responsibility. A real-life nightmare, but I survived.
I won't leave negative feedback, as it's just not fair. There are many dedicated professionals at this company. I simply cannot drag them down because of the incompetence of 1 person, so you must make up your own mind how I view the experience.
