appalling service

My mother used Coodes and named one of the partners as an executor to her estate when she died.
After her death the service provided has been very poor. The communication has been terrible with no updates and no information provide when asked for.
On top of this my Mother' income tax bill wasn't settled resulting in late payment fines and interest of £8500.
At £250 an hour you would expect a much more professional service. It has led to me suffering a lot of unnecessary stress and used up a considerable amount of time in checking up on details because of a lack of trust in the solicitor.

Utterly Shambolic

I would have given a minus rating if this were possible. The handling of our probate was borderline negligent, chaotic and showed an utter absence of any case management. This led to significant delays in the grant of probate which had knock on financial implications, the work was so poor we had to check everything ourselves many times, correspondence was alleged to have been sent that never was. We had to escalate to the managing partners to even make any progress. Shockingly poor. Dealing with the death of a parent is hard enough, having this level of incompetence layered on top made a difficult situation worse. Do not use.

A small deed of easement

I asked Coodes to arrange a deed of easement for my property. This changes my access and was completely agreed by myself and the landowner. I instructed Coodes in 2016. I am still waiting. I paid Coodes on account in 2017 I think it was.
I have been subjected to a string of excuses, and changes of people dealing with my case. Even after speaking to numerous heads of departments within the company I am no closer to getting my deeds changed.
They are an awful company and I will never use them again.

Excellent, efficient, sympathetic

My brother and I engaged Coodes to assist with a will dispute involving family from a previous marriage. It was quickly established we had a potential case and engaged with Mel Grose and Jenny Carter. Our initial engagement was thorough and professional with Mel and Jenny asking details questions and continually stressing it was better to negotiate with the family for a positive outcome than going to court. Jenny became our point of contact and was effective and clear, always doing what she agreed to do. We reached a good outcome for all and resolved a difficult situation thanks to Jenny and Mel. We are very pleased with the outcome and are now working with the client team to instigate our agreement. We are very grateful to Coodes.

Totally professional service

Given the complexity of my personal situation, living overseas while purchasing a property in the UK, and also being profoundly deaf, Coodes could not have been more sympathetic and helpful. They are wholly reliable in every way - and very nice with it!

Sophie has acted for us several times now, and we have found her to be unfailingly professional and reliable. Her knowledge and empathy, coupled with excellent communication, make her a pleasure to do business with, and helps to de-stress the home buying process.
We have no hesitation in recommending Sophie’s services.

It was great to have Kayleigh from Coodes in my corner when trying to regain possession of my commercial property. Kayleigh was diligent and assertive in her working and helped me put a very unsavoury chapter of my life to bed. Many thanks for your support.

Mr Ben Sidgwick took on and dealt with our very messy and complicated matter with understanding and empathy for us throughout. He was extremely professional and got a positive result for us in the end. We are so pleased to have what we would describe as an "ACE" Solicitor on our contact list, would highly recommend him and will definitely use again if ever we need legal assistance.
