I feel it only right to take the time to write a review, because Nicola at Paris Smith Solicitors has been nothing short of exceptional. I recently found myself navigating five simultaneous mortgage applications, all of which needed to complete on the same day. The complexity and pressure involved could easily have become overwhelming for both of us, but Nicola's professionalism, expertise, and unwavering commitment ensured that everything progressed smoothly from start to finish. What truly sets Nicola apart is her communication. Throughout the entire process, she was consistently available by email—which, given my profession and working hours, is not always my preferred method of contact—but even more impressively, she was readily available by telephone whenever needed. Most remarkably, she remained accessible whilst on annual leave to ensure completion happened regardless of her own circumstances. That level of dedication is simply exceptional. Her commitment speaks volumes about her professionalism, but more importantly, about her character. Neil one of the solicitors at this firm is a man with no integrity and he enjoy power and will find ways to legally get extra money. I instructed him for an intro call and the price was agreed. I specifically told him I wanted no further work done after the call and that I did not want him to write up notes. He then went on to write up notes and charge me another £500 for that which I had told him not to do both verbally and in writing. Yet he took me to court for these as he has no integrity. Firstly he charged me for work we had not agreed and that is had told him not to do. Secondly he then added zero value and his notes was him charging me £500 to write up facts I had given him that I already knew. My experience with him is that he lack any integrity, is arrogant and rude and is on a power trip. He shown no care about me as a customer. been rude and was only looking to charge me as much as possible. STAY AWAY FROM THIS FIRM AND NEIL if you want a good solicitor I can recommend other first as the firm that supported me afterwards where so kind and fair.

A review of this nature is always hard to read but in this particular case could have been anticipated. As we both know the outcome of the court proceedings that you refer to there is nothing I can usefully add. It speaks for itself. This firm has maintained an excellent reputation for 205 years and that would not have been possible if, as you say, its members lack integrity. We have the pleasure of working with wonderful clients; most of whom are extremely loyal and who are delighted with the service we provide. That is not to say that a firm of our size and presence does not make mistakes, but they are thankfully rare and we always do what we can to resolve them and to make sure we learn from themselves. We used Paris Smith for a new build recommended by the developers. A poor decision on our part. It felt like they were working for the developers instead. They didn't respond to a question we had but added in the same sentence they had spoken to the developers. Who is the client? We never spoke with a solicitor, no advice given on the contract, “read it and get back if you have any question”. They should read it first and advise on any important legal points. Our confidence knocked we pulled out. Never again.

Expensive conveyancing and very little communication and follow up. Everything was ok in the end but had to chase up on multiple occasions to maintain progress on the property sale. Would not recommend this firm as you pay a premium price for a basic level of service.

Same experience as S.E.S! They have been "administering" my late mother's estate for 6 years. She was 98, and her Will was written by them as a Trust, with themselves as Sole Trustees. So, on top of the £16K that they paid themselves for probate, they are into us for another £40K, as of 2025. It is a small cottage which has been the home for many years of the excellent lady who cared for my mother. She pays £5000 pa rent, not that we have ever seen it, and for administering it they have charged an average of £8000 pa over this period - a task we would have performed for nothing! We have no idea how much we currently owe, or why - they don't explain. 14 lawyers have been involved, most of whom we have never heard of. But they've told us clearly they're not going to step down as Trustees until we pay their bill, so they're threatening us as well. They even threatened to sell it, which would have put our tenant out onto the street in the middle of winter. Their behaviour may be legal; but it has been unpleasant - my mother intended it for the benefit of her grandchildren, one of whom has Downs Syndrome. No doubt, as with S.E.S, Paris Smith would also class these as mere "concerns"!
