Left Unrepresented at Court in a Criminal Case
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Duncan Lewis Solicitors during a criminal matter. At a critical stage of proceedings, I experienced a number of serious issues which ultimately led to a complete breakdown in trust and confidence. Draft representations provided by Eldemina (Duncan Lewis) contained clear errors and inaccuracies, including content that appeared unrelated to my case and gave the impression it had not been properly reviewed. Despite raising these concerns, representations were submitted without my approval. I also dealt with Antonia Attard and Marina Williamson during the course of proceedings. At the initial hearing, there was very limited time spent with me beforehand, which did not allow for proper preparation. At a later hearing, I was left in a position where there was little to no advocacy on my behalf, leaving me to attempt to address matters myself in court. This caused significant stress at a time where proper legal support was essential. Following a formal complaint, the firm acknowledged failings and offered compensation. While this has been accepted to bring the matter to a close, it does not reflect the seriousness of the issues experienced. To be clear, this review is not about dissatisfaction with an outcome, but about the standard of service, lack of preparation, and failure to properly represent a client at a crucial stage in criminal proceedings. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.
