I contacted them after being given the number to seek help from them with my housing matter. And after explaining my situation and taking all my details (if I work , how much do I get paid… which I don’t find correct to give all these information), I received an email that in one week I will be contacted to discuss and they were going to give me some advices if not able to take my case. I called them after two weeks not contact, and saying they will call me when a lawyer with check all the information . And just last Saturday after 3 weeks waiting , they sent me an email “ our team has considered your enquiry and we write to confirm that we do not have the capacity to take on your case” . And no any additional information or advice given.

I am deeply shocked and appalled by the cold, unprofessional treatment I received from Duncan Lewis. My complex housing and public law case involving a rogue landlord, Hackney Council, and an NHS data breach was formally accepted by caseworker Samiira Mohamed and her senior supervisor. Because of my dangerous living environment, my vital medical surgery had to be cancelled by the hospital. Duncan Lewis had full written proof of this emergency. Last Monday (10th), Samiira emailed me to state she was leaving the firm but explicitly promised my file was being reallocated to a colleague. Instead, I was left in complete silence for two weeks. I explicitly stated to this firm in my emails that "silence becomes part of the harm." When I finally forced the issue and called them today, I was casually dropped over the phone and told they "don't have the capacity" to take my case. To accept an extremely vulnerable client, leave them trapped in a detrimental environment for weeks, and then abandon them via a standard switchboard message due to internal staff turnover is a severe failure of professional duty of care. Absolute corporate coldness. I be been through absolute hell and the way I have been treated has been shocking and then the Law Firm who accepted my case did exactly that continued the harm. And it’s has deeply broken me. I don’t actually know if I have the energy or the belief to continue this hell I’m in. Devastated doesn’t cut it. And what makes it worse is I had a generic response saying my case couldn’t be taken on and the caseworker reassured me that it was just automatic. So whilst I’ve felt very much trapped in a burning building. To be told no we have your case. And then ghosted and dropped really really was the ultimate whiplash. Thank you Duncan Lewis you really have thrown me into an even darker hole.

No response to initial enquiry or follow-up email – disappointing service for urgent tribunal matter I contacted Duncan Lewis Solicitors on 1 April 2026 requesting urgent solicitor representation for an ongoing Employment Tribunal claim with a linked social housing dispute. I clearly explained that I am currently out of work, have already submitted an ET1 and received the ET3 response, and urgently need experienced legal counsel to prepare for the initial hearing. I have substantial evidence and asked to explore Legal Aid eligibility or suitable funding options. I received an automated reply the same day confirming my details had been forwarded to the relevant team. It provided Client Referral ID Number 285621087 and stated that someone would contact me “at their earliest opportunity during office hours”. I sent a polite follow-up email asking for an update, but have received no response to either my original enquiry or the follow-up. It is now 9 April 2026 — over a full week later — and I have had zero contact whatsoever: no phone call, no email, and no acknowledgement. This complete lack of follow-up from a firm that advertises itself as a top-tier Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked practice is very disappointing. When someone facing active tribunal proceedings, significant stress, and an urgent need for professional representation reaches out, basic communication and timely response should be the minimum standard. The silence has left me feeling ignored and more overwhelmed at a time when I most need reliable legal support to move my case forward and seek justice. I don't know if the firm is going through a difficult period, but this is how I have been treated so far.
