Throughout the extremely difficult months while my case progressed through the courts, I received excellent professional advice, in particular with a candid and honest assessment of the likely outcome. The advocacy and defense given by Jim Smith at my sentencing was exemplary and contributed significantly, in my opinion, to my receiving a much more lenient sentence than I was expecting. In fact I firmly believe that the presentation of mitigation contributed a great deal to persuading the Judge to offer clemency to me, and give me another chance.
