Although an ‘anonymous’ review, Colin is a pseudonym, this is genuine feedback on my/ our experience using Frettens as conveyancers for a recent house purchase. The pricing was upfront and transparent and there were no unexpected or unwarranted fees. We chose Frettens based on their reputation and feel this is deserved. Phoebe Gamble, working together with Julia Gaunt, was our key point of contact. She was professional and helpful at all stages of the transaction, with excellent, clear communication. As first time buyers, she explained all aspects as required and provided realistic time frames. She kept in regular touch with the sales progressor at the estate agent and with the vendor’s solicitor, ensuring the process went as smoothly as could be hoped. Phoebe’s ‘welcome to your new home’ card was a lovely little gesture to be met with when moving in! I have no hesitation in recommending Frettens based on this experience.

Shelley from Frettens was professional and easy to work with throughout the process. However, it’s important to be aware that if your sale or purchase falls through—even at the last minute—they will still charge 75% of their fee. I was disappointed when our initial sale collapsed just before the exchange of contracts, but it was even more of a shock to find we were still liable for a substantial fee, plus full fee was charged for the second sale. Just a word of warning: make sure you read the small print in their terms and conditions carefully.

Be cautious when using this conveyancing law firm and ensure you read the terms and conditions thoroughly. If a sale or purchase falls through at the last minute, they will charge 75% of their fee for any abortive transaction and 100% on any subsequent sale or purchase. In contrast, my experience with Dixon Stewart has been far more reasonable. I’ve used them for previous sales and purchases, and in situations where transactions have fallen through, they have not imposed unexpected or excessive charges. Based on my experience, I would recommend Dixon Stewart for a more transparent and fair conveyancing service.

I recently sold and purchased a property and instructed Frettens as my conveyencers. My experience was seamless, fast and friendly from start to finish. Natalie, Jade and the team were super helpful and put up with my often silly questions and were always happy to explain things to us. I would highly reccomend Frettens Christchurch, after using a condesending/rude solicitor in the past Frettens was a breath of fresh air.
