Very good service and advice. Prompt service and responses. Unable to say if competitive pricing, but I would assume so, market forces at play etc. I would certainly recommend. No one uses a solicitor for something simple, it’s always because it involves something you cannot deal with yourself. We pay for the advice recieved, which I found to be excellent value.

I phoned Frettens this morning because I just wanted a bit of advice about a false accusation I had received via a WhatsApp message. I spoke to a receptionist, I assume, who couldn't put me through to the Dispute team as the lines were busy. She eventually got back to me and said that they could write a letter to the person at a cost of £500 plus VAT. I realise that prices have increased since I retired as a legal secretary in 2019 but £500 plus VAT seemed somewhat excessive for one letter. Needless to say I won't be using them. This is a response to your reply. I saw your 'free 30 minute' appointment. I telephoned and explained to whoever answered the phone this was what I wanted, as I just needed some advice and if I was eligible for the free half hour after explaining what my problem was. I never spoke to a solicitor. Nothing was 'explained' to me about opening a file. I was just told it would cost £500 to write a letter. When I queried the amount, she repeated £500 plus VAT. Nothing was said about the free half hour, which I initially enquired about. I just wanted to find out what my options were.
Dear Ann, As we explained on the phone, we would need to open a new file and properly look into your matter to be able to provide you with an exact quote. Therefore, one of our solicitors gave you £500 plus VAT as an estimate prior to you instructing us. We apologise for the fact you feel this price is excessive, however we are disappointed that you felt the need to leave a review for this reasoning.
