Similar to a lot of other people on here we recieved absolutely awful service from Taylor Rose Solicitors with the purchase of our new property. Terrible communication, constantly having to chase for up dates. Incorrect information on official documentation accompanied by multiple breaches of GDPR. Lack of action until weeks / months of submitting documentation they request. Again having to then chase for updates. Delayed the purchase and caused a lot of uncertainty and unnecessary stress throughout what is already a busy and stressful process. Avoid at all costs

TLDR; Some of their staff may be very good at their jobs, but some are awful. You do not get a better service just because you are paying them more. Their customer support and complaints team will do little to help you if your lawyers provide a poor service. This review relates to our experience with Amanda Fan-Watkins and Elloise Harrhy - if you get them, I'd suggest requesting others instead of risking the experience we had. We contracted them to be our conveyancers for our first home purchase based on a friend's recommendation and the experience was truly unpleasant - they turned what should be a wonderful experience of buying our new home into a painful, frustrating and disappointing experience which dragged on for far longer than it should have. This review is based on the assumption that you pay TR a higher fee than elsewhere for an improved service and my issue is that we could have had the same service while paying half the price - at least an AI conveyancer wouldn't have been so unpleasant to deal with. Main problems: Attitude - Before we signed the contract Amanda was very friendly - as soon as it was signed, her tone and demeanour changed completely and she seemed offended that I dared to call her to ask questions. As we neared the end of the process she became increasingly offensive and I can honestly say I've never been spoken to like that by anyone, let alone someone working for me. Basic decency and respect should not be a big ask. Reactiveness - Most people will tell you that in order to get conveyancers to do anything you have to stay on top of them and call constantly. I made the mistake of leaving Amanda to her work and this easily delayed the work by 1 or 2 months, costing us more in rent as we waited. Whenever I called, she told me how she was closing down one case and opening ours which proves she was only working on cases when the client called and pushed her. Lack of structure and support - As they received documents for us they simply sent them in a mass of attachments with no explanation as to what they were and what we should do with them. This is a set process so they could have templates set up to make it easier for them and clearer for the client. This was combined with their unpleasant attitude which meant that to understand documents, we had to call them and have a painful conversation as they reluctantly explained information to us. Hidden charges - As charges arose for work on the process, they didn't transparently make us aware of them but rather left it to us to uncover, hidden away in one of the documents and very difficult to pick out. If they were committed to legal firms' commitment to transparency and ethical dealings with customers, they would highlight additional costs and ensure the client is aware of them, rather than waiting until the final bill is sent. Disinterested and deceitful complaints service - After going through this, I raised a complaint with their complaints team who simply followed a notional process and clearly had no interest in holding their staff to account. I had to escalate it to a Head before it got anywhere. They also mysteriously couldn't access call recordings where Amanda had been unacceptably rude despite saying that they record all calls - this was clearly intentional deception. This suggests that the behaviour they showed is an institutional and systemic issue which is accepted by Taylor Rose. I gave them 2 stars as perhaps the work was done as it should be after all of that pain, but I suppose we won't know unless or until we come across an issue in future. So if you've made it this far, I'd recommend selecting other law firms just to be safe, there are so many out there and I will be recommending to everyone who goes through this process to avoid Taylor Rose.

Poor Communication, Serious Mistakes, Inadequate Resolution

I would strongly advise against anyone instructing Taylor Rose for a property transaction. Following our purchase, Taylor Rose failed to identify errors in our mortgage deed before submitting the registration application to HM Land Registry. This led to avoidable requisitions, significant delays and months of uncertainty. Communication throughout the process was extremely poor. We repeatedly had to chase for updates, were provided with the contact details of an employee who had already left the firm, and ultimately had to contact HM Land Registry ourselves to establish the status of the application. It was only through our own enquiries that we discovered the application was approaching a critical deadline. The delays had serious financial consequences. Our mortgage offer expired whilst the registration issues remained unresolved, forcing us to secure a new mortgage product at a significantly higher interest rate. Taylor Rose has accepted responsibility for a number of failings and has offered a small amount compensation but nothing close to our losses. We remain dissatisfied with the outcome and have now referred the matter to the Legal Ombudsman for independent review. What is most disappointing is that the complaint itself took almost six months to reach a final response, including missed deadlines within Taylor Rose's own complaints process. Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, our experience was characterised by avoidable errors, poor communication and a lack of accountability for the full financial impact of those failings. Based on our experience, I would not use Taylor Rose again.

Appalling Client Care, Lost Documents, and Extreme Stress

We are posting this review now that our sale has completed to warn others. Dealing with Taylor Rose turned an already stressful process into a genuinely traumatic experience. We escalated our complaint to the Head of Client Care, but the firm chose to protect their staff and hide behind timelines rather than take accountability for their service. If you choose to use Taylor Rose, be prepared for the following: Communication Failure: Our solicitor refused to pick up the phone to guide our cooperative leaseholder through a simple ID2 identity form. Her blunt and confrontational emails caused the leaseholder to feel forced to appoint his own solicitors, landing us with a massive bill. When I stepped in and called the landlord myself, we cleared up the misunderstanding in minutes. Our Taylor Rose solicitor eventually apologised to the landlord, but it was unfortunately too late; the landlord had already appointed his own legal representation because he was so unsatisfied with her attitude. A simple 5-minute phone call from the start would have saved us thousands of pounds. They Lost Our Sensitive Documents and Blamed Us: The firm lost vital documents we sent them, forcing us to quickly re-sign and re-send replacements under immense pressure. At the time, they blamed us and claimed we had never sent them. However, in their formal complaint response, they finally admitted they did receive them but had scanned them incorrectly onto the back of a completely different document and "overlooked" them. Doing Their Job For Them: 1. The solicitor repeatedly drew up incorrect deed plans which would have legally blocked two of our neighbours from accessing their own front doors. Because she was struggling, I had to personally redraw the plans for her. The firm has since admitted to us in writing that the solicitor "is not legally qualified to draw up plans"—yet she attempted to do so anyway instead of advising us to seek a professional from the start. 2. I had to personally contact the Land Registry to find out what was stalling our Deed of Variation. The Land Registry told me exactly what was missing and noted that the solicitor could see this on her portal. Yet, when asked, our solicitor shut us down, ignored my queries about the portal, and insisted she was just "waiting on an email." I had to hunt down and coordinate with the third parties myself to get the final sign-offs. Total Lack of Empathy: Throughout the entire process, our solicitor felt cold and completely lacked human emotion, which is so key when dealing with the stress of moving home. A prime example of this was when our buyers pulled out after 4 months; there was no phone call, just a cold email telling us to let her know when we had new buyers. When we tried to push things forward to protect our position, we were met with defensive remarks like, "I won't be working any faster or slower than I normally do." Taylor Rose is a massive company and they undoubtedly have great solicitors, but our experience was appalling. Our only goal now is to ensure no other family has to go through the trauma, extreme anxiety, and absolute lack of client care that we had to endure.

My experience with Taylor Rose Solicitors left me with the impression that the firm protects its own kinds rather than those of their clients. After more than 10 years of seeking answers and accountability, I still feel that justice has been denied rather than delivered. I understand that mistakes can happen in any profession, including the legal profession, but throughout this process I have seen no meaningful acknowledgment of what I believe were serious failings in the handling of my case. As a single mother, the impact has been devastating. Instead of receiving support and assistance, I have endured years of stress, anxiety, frustration, and financial loss. I paid approximately £16,000 in legal fees for services that I believe ultimately worked against my interests, yet no one appears willing to accept responsibility or provide satisfactory explanations. My complaint was directed to Meta Panchamia, Director of Dispute Resolution and Head of Group Litigation. However, I found the second internal complaints process disappointing and ineffective. I was repeatedly met with “out of office” responses, informed that all avenues had been exhausted, or told that the issues raised were outside the firm’s remit. In my view, the initial investigation presented a conflict of interest, as the matters I raised were connected to the supervision and handling of issues involving child safety. Despite raising these concerns, I felt they were dismissed without proper consideration, quickly lost evidence, and no independent scrutiny appeared to take place. The offer of £7,000 with downplayed results for “poor service”, based on some kind of legal test, which was refused to properly explain or justify. This is my experience with Taylor Rose. After years of pursuing answers, I remain deeply disappointed by what I consider to be an unprofessional and careless approach to both my case and my subsequent complaint. The lack of transparency, accountability, and meaningful engagement has left me feeling ignored and without the justice or explanations I have spent more than a decade seeking. I continue to believe that the truth matters and that accountability should not depend on how much time has passed. I believe in the right timing, and I remain hopeful that one day the answers and justice I have been seeking will finally be delivered. This is further complicated by the fact that the supervisor involved in my case is now the Head of Family and children department. I believe raises concerns about independence and impartiality in how my complaint was handled.
