Outstanding service

Caroline Sherry worked extremely hard to help us secure our dream home. We had to put her under time pressure due to complications with our transaction and she was always available and responded promptly. She has good judgement, is very thorough and helped us get indemnifications against liability that didn't seem likely. Caroline was a pleasure to deal with, and I would recommend her to anybody.

Amazing representation for us

The representation myself and my son received was outstanding. From the very first phone call, I felt reassured and not alone. Sarah was thorough and clear about everything from minute one. Her professionalism, determination and dedication to our case have been wonderful all the way through. Sarah's genuineness and efficiency make her a pleasure to deal with. Sarah's responses were always prompt, I always knew where I stood due to everything being made clear and the billing side was always transparent. What could have been an entirely different experience was made far more bearable by really feeling that we had an friend on our side representing us with her extensive legal expertise. We used Setfords solicitors to purchase a flat in London. Initial conversations went well, and the process started smoothly. However, over time, communication became much less efficient, and the solicitor made little effort to resolve outstanding issues with the seller. Whenever we asked for an update, they simply repeated the same email without providing any detailed information on the current status of the process. After working with us for four(!) months and presumably processing the documents, we were abruptly informed that, due to changes in the company’s insurance policy, they were dropping our case and would no longer represent us. We had to quickly find another solicitor, pay extra for urgency, transfer all the documents, and explain the delays to the seller, which were caused by Setfords’ actions. Regardless of the policy change, they should have checked this at the beginning, not after four months. As a result, we wasted months with Setfords, incurred unnecessary fees, and delayed the purchase, which nearly caused the chain to collapse.

At the outset, we were told to include all of the expenses incurred for our dispute. I supplied an abundant amount of information, with dates, regulatory laws broken and the general lead to researched litigation. C9mplete waste of time. The solicitor either didn't bother to respond or was so inexperienced that the case was way above their ego. The solicitor then left the company and I was never contacted to say so. An absolutely shambolic customer care department which I also believe is non-existent, and a complete lack of integrity. I DO NOT EX0ECT TO HAVE TO READ DRAFT LETTERS AND REPEATEDLY BRING UP 11+ GRAMMAR AND SPELLING MISTAKES. You will be better served by a no win no fee company.

Great Service

Would definitely recommend Laura at Setfords for all your conveyancy needs. We sold a leasehold flat and with all the complications they bring Laura was an enormous help in getting everything sorted out for us. Communication was great, either by email or phone. Would definitely use them again

Used Michael Compton for what should have been a very simple service for an extraordinary cost compared to others solicitors. I heard nothing from him for a month despite repeated chasing, no work was carried out on my behalf and he significantly delayed the process causing what was already a very stressful time, even more stressful. Avoid.

It's difficult to put into words just how exceptional Jacqueline Batchelor is. The care, dedication and reassurance she gave us throughout our home purchase went far beyond what we ever expected, and we cannot recommend her highly enough. From the very beginning, Jacqueline took the time to understand what was important to us and treated our purchase as if it were her own. As first-time buyers, we naturally had lots of questions, but she was always available to help, explaining everything clearly and making sure we felt informed and confident throughout the process. Her communication was outstanding. We never once had to chase her for an update because she was always one step ahead. Whether something was urgent or routine, she responded quickly and kept us fully informed every step of the way. What impressed us most was her ability to find solutions and keep things moving. Whenever something unexpected came up, Jacqueline calmly worked through the options, explained everything clearly and found practical ways to keep us on track. We also had a completion deadline that was incredibly important to us, and she worked tirelessly to help us achieve it while ensuring we fully understood every decision being made. Perhaps the quality we valued most was that Jacqueline was never influenced by outside pressure. Whether it was estate agents, sellers or tight timescales, her focus never changed. She wasn't interested in taking shortcuts or simply getting the transaction completed; her priority was making sure everything was right for us and that our interests were always protected. As first-time buyers, we'd heard countless horror stories about buying a house. Thanks to Jacqueline, we don't have one. Instead, we had a solicitor who genuinely cared, communicated brilliantly and guided us through every stage of the process with professionalism and confidence. Looking back, we realise just how lucky we were to have had Jacqueline by our side. She made what could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience feel organised, manageable and reassuring from start to finish. If you're looking for a solicitor who will put your interests first, keep you informed and give you complete confidence throughout the process, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jacqueline.

Awful experience so far. Nearly a year of back and forth and still no completion of property. Paperwork isnt being checked, errors and mistakes that could cause risk to me later that ive had to point out by having someone else check the paperwork thoroughly. Unfortunatly i dont have a choice and stuck with them. They dont care.. you have to chase for responses, not accountability for mistakes theyve made etc. Caused so muxh delay that whikst not all their fault they have contributed. Please avoid if you deserve better service. Will update my review with names etc at a later stage.
