In early 2025 I engaged Ashtons Solicitors to represent me in my claim for compensation for Asbestosis. I was represented by Ruth Hinchliffe, a charming, polite and very patient young solicitor. This personable exterior hides a very capable and knowledgeable negotiator who was always happy to answer my questions, nothing was too much trouble. There were issues in my case of incorrect medical reports which had to be corrected and she dealt with witness's. I would definitely recommend Ashtons to anyone unfortunate enough to be in my situation. A successful conclusion to my claim has now been reached in less than 18 months, thank you Ruth.

I was introduced to Ruth when I engaged Ashtons to represent me in my claim for Asbestosis compensation in early 2025. It’s no exaggeration when I say that Ashtons Legal changed my life after I sustained a catastrophic traumatic brain injury aged 20. Ashtons was recommended to me by the PALS team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and I reached out to them in early 2022 and the case concluded in mid 2026 due to its complexity. Thanks to the absolutely tenacious eye for detail that Mick Upton used in my case against the individual who injured me in a hit-and-run, and the ice cold professionalism and legal acumen that Marcus Grant presented against the insurance company who were the defendants in the case, I am now protected for the foreseeable future and have access to cutting edge care and financial advice outsourced to excellent advisors who also have a great eye for all things economic. Throughout the four-year process I was kept in the loop every step of the way. No stone was left unturned and nothing was left to chance - Mick Upton led from the front to secure me a settlement which is absolutely life changing and Marcus Grant was there to be the face of negotiation, assist and to provide crucial representation when it mattered most. Throughout it all there was a team of ferociously dedicated and committed executives, managers and assistants who formed the backbone of the case and provided their expert aid when I needed questions answered or needed to provide my own input. I would like to thank one of them, Louise Reardon, for being so kind, helpful and understanding when I found it difficult to complete forms or communicate effectively with the team. Her compassion was second to none, matched only by her ability to assist and offer guidance. For them this was another day at the office. For me, it was simply life changing and I cannot express my gratitude adequately in this review. Loren guided me through the probate maze following the death of my mother. It was a somewhat complicated process, which I, as most of us are, was ignorant of. Dear Sir/Madam, Formal Complaint – Failure to Provide a Quotation and Poor Communication I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Ashtons Legal’s Bury St Edmunds office regarding a proposed commercial property transaction. Over a period of approximately two weeks, I contacted your office on three separate occasions to chase a quotation for the legal work associated with the purchase. On each occasion, your reception staff advised that they would escalate my concerns and ask the relevant team to contact me. Despite these assurances, I received no return call, quotation or meaningful update. A commercial property transaction requires prompt and dependable professional support. Having to repeatedly chase a firm simply to obtain an initial quotation gave me no confidence that my transaction would be handled with the necessary urgency or level of communication. As a result, I have decided to instruct one of your competitors. It is extremely disappointing that Ashtons Legal lost the opportunity to act for me, not because of the proposed fees or complexity of the transaction, but because nobody took the time to respond. Based on my experience, I could not recommend Ashtons Legal to anyone requiring a responsive and reliable legal service. Unless prospective clients have several months to spare and are prepared to continually chase for updates, they may be better advised to approach another firm. I would appreciate confirmation that this complaint has been recorded and reviewed by the appropriate person within the firm. Yours faithfully, Paul Hewett
