I reached out to Suzanne McAuley at Sills & Betteridge in Nottingham through Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). I needed Ms McAuley's help with an LPA registration on behalf of my mother who is suffering from mid-stage dementia. The legal work was straightforward, I think, but my sister and I needed Ms McAuley's 'safe pair of hands' in the process as my mother is losing her mental capacity. I really appreciated the solicitor's work which, although taking place during the Coronavirus pandemic period, was never anything other than prompt, efficient, informative ... and compassionate! We're all very grateful.

Siils and Betteridge is truly appalling. I was charged with a criminal offence, and Katie Scott was to be my DEFENCE solicitor, employed to DEFEND me. No chance of that. I was asked to provide evidence, which included CCTV, to support my case. It was strong evidence, but Katie Scott, and the barrister employed by her, dismissed it all such that I was left with no defence at all. When I insisted that the evidence be used both of them abandoned me minutes before the Trial was due to start, giving the excuse that they were "professionally embarrassed". This, in plain English, means that they did not like being instructed by a paying client, and decided to walk off in a huff. They showed no professionalism whatsoever. Some while late, I posted a critical online review, but this was swiftly removed, probably because of "professional embarrassment". I hope this review will not be removed, but because Sills and Betteridge are easily "professionally embarrassed", it probably will. My advice is not to use Sills and Betteridge if you do not want to be abandoned at Court, or if you expect to be able to ask your solicitor to use evidence. It "professionally embarrasses" the poor dears.
