Sasha Jacques, my main contact, was superb, dealing with all day to day correspondence, chasing the other side multiple times per week, updating me, providing instant replies to any questions. Jessica Richards, the lead solicitor on my case, who drafted the legal report, was similarly faultless. Together, they were both completely on top of the whole process. They finished their work two whole months before the other side did theirs (which admittedly involved both sale and purchase, whereas mine was just purchase, but still…)

Awful experience so far. Nearly a year of back and forth and still no completion of property. Paperwork isnt being checked, errors and mistakes that could cause risk to me later that ive had to point out by having someone else check the paperwork thoroughly. Unfortunatly i dont have a choice and stuck with them. They dont care.. you have to chase for responses, not accountability for mistakes theyve made etc. Caused so muxh delay that whikst not all their fault they have contributed. Please avoid if you deserve better service. Will update my review with names etc at a later stage.
Cannot recommend Setfords Solicitors enough! We had the privilege of liasing with Rebecca, and she was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. 0 complaints, nothing was too much of a hassle and she always ensured we were kept in the loop! So very impressed, and we cannot be more grateful to Rebecca and Setfords for making our first home purchase such a seamless one! I will recommend Setfords to all for delivering on quality and care!
AVOID. These are the worst solicitors we have ever used. No chain on either side, simple transaction that should have been done in a couple of months. They dragged it out so far that the seller backed out and we lost the purchase. Want to know how bad it is? They told us we needed legal advice, the legal advice we were paying them for! All cases are given to a junior and right at the last second are looked over by someone who knows what they are doing (or not in our case). I cannot stress to people enough to people who read this how bad this firm is. Shocking. Over £1,500 down and we lost the purchase because they messed around so much. Avoid! You have been warned....

Had an appalling experiencing with Setfords conveyancing and the subsequent handling of complaints. The conveyancing was made more stressful than necessary because communication was difficult and short. Worse, I was provided with explicit, incorrect written advice regarding the warranty of my new build house, which turned out to contain unusual exclusions that the solicitor should have uncovered. This has resulted in years of distress and tens of thousands of pounds lost in getting serious building defects rectified. While my complaint in May 2025 about the conveyancing service and incorrect advice was initially met with courteous replies and requests for lots of information, subsequently there has been no admission of fault or reparation. Instead, the complaints manager has tried to shift responsibility to other actors, such as surveyors and builders, who have nothing to do with the incorrect legal advice provided by Setfords. The response also misrepresented the fact about complaint and cited terms and conditions bore no relationship and were inapplicable to the matters in dispute. The complaint will of course be escalated to higher instances in order to hold the solicitor who provided the incorrect advice and the complaints manager accountable. However, all this distress and loss would have been prevented if a competent solicitor had identified the missing documents and provided correct advice regarding the new build warranty.

From start to finish the service was exceptional. Lorna made the whole experience a breeze, and completed our purchase within our requested tight timeframe.
