Avoid at any cost if the money comes from abroad! The solicitor worked against me, for the first time in my life I felt I was paying someone to emotionally and financially abuse me. I was dropped 2 weeks before the exchange and completion and was charged over £1500!!! Was declined a refund after I made a complaint, covering for each other, this was the worst experience I ever had with a solicitor!

Sonia was with us on a 18 month journey which saw 5 house sales fall through due to certain planing conditions not been adhered by the owners or right of way on a property own driveway and numerous other issues that saw properties fall by the wayside but we have now moved this sale was completed within a 12 week period all has ended for the best.

Very disappointing experience with Margarita Ivanova and Setfords. After I started asking clarifying questions by email regarding the legal documents and process, the retainer was terminated citing a “breakdown of trust and confidence”. The firm appears to have conflated scrutiny and requests for clarification with a lack of professional trust. I do not agree that asking clarification questions in writing regarding lender requirements and legal structure should reasonably amount to a breakdown of trust and confidence. In a complex property transaction involving a declaration of trust, transfer of funds and lender requirements, requesting written clarification is normal and responsible client risk management, not misconduct or lack of trust. Following the questions I raised via email regarding my matter, I subsequently received a series of emotional and, in my view, inappropriate WhatsApp voice messages from Margarita. I found the tone, approach, and manner of communication distressing, disproportionate, and inappropriate in a professional solicitor-client relationship. My complaint also took almost 15 weeks to resolve instead of the stated 8 weeks. The firm didn’t acknowledge wrongdoing. The matter is now with the Legal Ombudsman. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience.
Used Michael Compton for what should have been a very simple service for an extraordinary cost compared to others solicitors. I heard nothing from him for a month despite repeated chasing, no work was carried out on my behalf and he significantly delayed the process causing what was already a very stressful time, even more stressful. Avoid.
Customer Service not very good. The firm only assists prospective clients if it is financially viable for them. See email response below:- "We would be unable to assist, as it would not be financially viable to instruct one of our solicitors in this case."
There is a reason why they have 2 stars from their reviews. They really are the worst company. Not going to go into details but let me say one thing. They do not care about their clients at all. When you make an enquiry you will have solicitors swarming your inbox like vultures all looking to take on the case on for you. Once you are on and have parted with a fair amount of cash the whole attitude changes. I had some really inappropriate comments made to me by the solicitor handling my case as well. These comments were really shocking and so unprofessional. Laurie Heizler is incompetent, claims he has all the experience but the work says otherwise. Failed to meet the most basic requirements when putting forward a case like the one I had which was so embarrassing. Once his work was picked apart by another law firm he backed down. He then wanted more money to consult a legal council on the issues when it should have been addressed in the first place. He made other comments to me which I won't repeat which are really not okay to say to a client. I lost all confidence in his work and I reported back to Setfords for a review and to get my case handed over to another solicitor. I never complained about Laurie though, I just asked for it to be transferred to another representative as I lost confidence in him, I think this is very reasonable. They never replied for three months! I had to put a lot of pressure to even get a response. You cannot get past the reception desk so don't bother calling, they will not engage with any dialogue on the phone. After losing all patience and piling on some pressure and starting to request partial refunds for the money I had wasted with them they decided to give me a half assed email on a Friday evening telling me I would have a response on Monday. It took until Tuesday for the response and it was nothing short of absolutely disgusting. Refused to hand my case to another solicitor, refused to address my detailed points and issues I had with the work they did and just gave me a load of rubbish on how "they" think the work was carried out to a good enough standard and that any issues were my fault. I spoke to Laurie on the phone where he even blamed me for the break down of the relationship even though I never even actually complained about him, I just asked for a different representative. Disgusting all of them, terrible law firm. Just avoid at all costs. One thing I learned is "buy cheap, buy twice". I now have a new solicitor working on the case who is incredibly helpful, polite and professional. They have also validated my awful experience with Setfords. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
I had a very disappointing experience with this firm while purchasing a property. After agreeing to use their services, communication was slow and progress felt unnecessarily delayed. When I followed up to ask for updates and raised concerns, instead of addressing the issues, my case was transferred to an entirely different law firm outside of their organisation. This caused further disruption and unnecessary stress during an already time-sensitive process. I was also unhappy with how my funds were handled, as they tried to keep my funds without delivering. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and poorly managed. I would not recommend this firm based on my experience.

Moving is, they say, one of the most stressful experiences of your life. Naively, we thought we’d be okay as we had a very small chain and we’d been through the process a few times before in the past. We were wrong. The world of house buying has moved on in the last decade and we were not equipped to deal with the chaos that was about to rain down on our heads. Enter Sharon and calm was restored. She is professional, a great communicator and utterly calm in the face of what continually feels like impending doom and disaster when you are trying to buy a house and sell your house to fund it. No question is too daft (I know because I asked them all) and each was answered with the same patience and professionalism. Sharon led us through the process step by step and was quick to respond to any queries or concerns along the way. When it came to signing documents, she was at the end of the phone to guide us through it and help this Luddite work out what I’d done wrong! If you are looking to move house, you need Sharon in your life (or at least your contact list!) I approached Karisma online as I needed a conveyance solicitor for my flat. I have used several solicitors for this over the years but from the offset her personal communication was absolutely first class, she ensured that communication was thorough and that’s what a client needs as I have had to chase information up with previous solicitors. I personally felt that she informed me of each step and it was very smooth so I intend to now use Karisma with the sale of my main residence and future properties, an absolute asset to the company and fully recommend her professional services.
