I sustained a life changing Spinal injury following a work accident in May 2021. I am lucky to be alive let alone walking. I was referred to Andy once discharged from hospital and was home recovering. From the very start Andy made me feel at ease with his professionalism, caring, understanding attitude towards a very sensitive situation I was now in. Andy talked me through the process that would now follow after taking on my case. From sorting out a case manager for me to get my rehabilitation started, to helping me with benefit advice and any other legal advice that may arise whilst still being in contact with my now former employers. I cannot stress enough the 110% plus help and support i received throughout my journey. It was not an easy case at times for myself or Andy, but Andy never waivered one minute. We were in constant contact when needed and no decision was made without my consent at any point in the process. This was another reason I have been so happy with Andy and all associated with my case at Higgs, every bump in the road, every hurdle that was encountered we spoke through these and went over all of the information available to us with a a fine comb to make the correct decision at that moment in time. Myself and my family would not have ended up with the result I have, been able to start to move on with my life and get back to some sort of normality if it was not for Andy and all involved at Higgs. I owe them more than i will ever be able to express. If there was more than 5 stars then whatever the maximum rating would be is where I would be rating them. I for one moving forward in life if I ever need or I know of anybody who needs help in this field will make sure they are getting in touch with Andy and Higgs.

Spoke to Jenny Petlow in regards to my sons medical condition he is currently in and if there firm could help. They could not take rhe case on due to my sons current circumstances, however Jenny has advised me the best possible way to help my son in order to get his medical condition resolved. Even thou my case could not be taken on she had taken the time out and was very understanding. I will definitely be using this firm for future in cases that they may be able to help me with even thou they couldn't take on my case on but the service I had for Jenny was brilliant, it tells me if I did have a case she would do her ultimate best! Founders first MBO.

This was our first MBO, and it was a steep learning curve. Higgs helped guide us through the legal side of the process and were available when we needed clarity or reassurance. They produced strong documentation and helped us protect our position as founders. Invaluable Help with Corporate Transaction

I worked with Jamie Partington and Richard Freeman at Higgs as the Buyer in an MBO transaction, and I couldn't have asked for better advisers throughout the process. This was a complex transaction involving a US seller, extensive SPA negotiations, transitional licensing arrangements, regulatory considerations and a number of moving parts that evolved right up to completion. Jamie and Richard were consistently responsive, pragmatic and commercially focused, helping us navigate challenges without ever losing sight of the bigger picture. What stood out most was their ability to balance technical legal advice with practical business judgement. They took the time to understand the commercial objectives behind the deal and were always willing to discuss options, pressure-test positions and find workable solutions. Their guidance was instrumental in helping us secure a fair outcome while keeping momentum in the transaction. The quality of their work was excellent throughout, from drafting and negotiation through to completion. Equally importantly, they were approachable, calm under pressure and a pleasure to work with. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jamie, Richard and the wider Higgs team to anyone undertaking an acquisition, investment or corporate transaction.

Over the course of 5 years, we appointed Higgs & Sons to act as a professional deputy. Unfortunately, our experience was consistently marked by poor communication, significant delays, and a lack of professionalism. Despite the firm charging approximately £12,000–£15,000 per year for what were simple administrative duties, timely responses to calls or emails were rare. Although Nicholas Moxon was named as the appointed deputy, we did not receive a single email or telephone call from him during the entire period. All communication was instead routed through Claire Whittall and Katie Chance, both of whom were frequently unresponsive and, at times, discourteous. On one occasion, after receiving no replies, I drove nearly two hours to the firm’s office, only to be handed documents by a receptionist while the relevant staff members declined to meet. The deputyship accounts were also significantly behind schedule—approximately two years overdue. Given the level of fees being charged, it is essential that these accounts are scrutinised by the Senior Courts Costs Office to ensure they are legitimate and proportionate. Following my mother’s passing, we expected a degree of sensitivity and efficiency. Instead, even simple enquiries regarding arrangements for a modest funeral required repeated follow ups. The funeral directors were not paid promptly, and we were again left to chase for updates. Despite the minimal communication during this period—amounting to only a few emails—Higgs & Sons sought to charge £3,389.40 for “extensive involvement.” In correspondence, Katie Chance stated: “Following your mother’s death there was extensive involvement to assist the executors in understanding the current position and to try and progress matters. The work completed from the date of death to date currently stands at £3,389.40… However, given the value of the estate, I am happy to agree to a 10% reduction of these fees as a gesture of goodwill.

I asked for their help submitting papers to Land Registry and was required to pay £2400 up front. They then said they didn’t think I would be successful and refused to submit the papers or give me my money back.
