Anne Hale was very helpful in sorting out the closure of a French bank account after the sale of a property. Her expertise meant that tax issues could be resolved too.

Anne was instrumental in the sale of a French property owned by my sister. However there were still issues in that tax was due and the French Bank Account was still open. As my sister's husband was ill she was unable to travel in order to close the bank account. Anne Hale was approached and offered a very kind, caring approach to get everything dealt with and the balance transferred into the UK account.

My experience was with Tom Beattie who helped me through a tough time, I had never experienced it. He was there for me and reliable. Abbie and Leah managed to get settled reasonably quickly three out of four long-standing business debts that I sent to them. The debtors were all firms of solicitors. The one exception was a firm of solicitors in a limited liability partnership that had had gone out of business. I was pleasantly surprised that Ashtons succeeded in getting other three debts settled. In one such case, the debtor firm was already facing debt orders approaching €2 million, so I was surprised to receive any payment at all from them. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbie and Leah for their debt settling skills. Their fees are reasonable. I only wish that I had turned to them sooner.

Awful, wretched service. Called up to get a solicitor quote, was promised a call back within 2 days. 4 days later, nothing. Called again, said someone will respond asap. Still no response. What will it take to make businesses return calls and stop treating customers like garbage. Do not recommend unless you enjoy irritation and being ignored.

The case was regarding a buisiness bankruptcy, not mine but resulting in a claim on my family home. I later discovered the solicitor I chose was inexperienced and not able to appear in court hearings. I was advised to use a barrister to represent me in the first of several hearings. It turned out to be in the wrong court so was dismissed. The barrister had to apologise to the judge for not being aware of new rules. I had to pay Ashtons the fee for that day amounting to approx. £2,400. My first instruction had been to keep my address abroad confidential, this was breached later as the case progressed. The opposing solicitors were calling the shots, my solicitor seemed in awe of them and even had to have them explain various points of law to her. The case dragged on for 18 months. The final insult was after the forced sale of my house. The final bill from Ashtons included an item ' Probate Fee' ( no one had died and this service was not required) I surmised it had been added to cover part of the final bill. In fact I did intend to withhold the payment until I could put forward my complaint. My house was sold for a fraction of the market value and 50% of the proceeds given to bankruptcy receivers. I put forward my complaint to a senior partner but it was not exactly a robust procedure, a panel of partners looked at it, I noticed one had the same surname as my solicitor . The points I mention here were not addressed. The breach of confidentiality, the Billing for an aborted court hearing, and false item of service which did not exist. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. My life savings were used up in legal fees amounting to 14k.

They didn't fallow court order and steal money from my husband. Now we'll have to go through the court again to recover whats ours

All they care is money. I paid them £180 to recover the debt. Debtor settled the debt to their bank account and they asked me to pay £30 for bank transfer. I would not recommended this company to anyone. After all they deduct more than they should. Now I will have to go with court proceedings against them. Please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere

My late Uncle died last year without a will but with property and money. Jonathan, Hannah Maskell and Claire Terrington have been brilliant helping me with everything. From applying for Probate to putting the property up for sale. They have been so professional and so patient answering any questions we had. I can't recommend them enough. They helped me with my late mother's estate when she had a will, but without a will a monumental task was made a lot easier. Thank you all very, very much.

Kerry has been an amazing solicitor in a very complex situation, i highly recommend her, she is very talented and knowledgeable, good communication Although Kerry has been absolutely brilliant i did not rate the medical doctors used by Ashtons but that is not her fault, i felt in very safe and confident in her abilities.

It’s no exaggeration when I say that Ashtons Legal changed my life after I sustained a catastrophic traumatic brain injury aged 20. Ashtons was recommended to me by the PALS team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and I reached out to them in early 2022 and the case concluded in mid 2026 due to its complexity. Thanks to the absolutely tenacious eye for detail that Mick Upton used in my case against the individual who injured me in a hit-and-run, and the ice cold professionalism and legal acumen that Marcus Grant presented against the insurance company who were the defendants in the case, I am now protected for the foreseeable future and have access to cutting edge care and financial advice outsourced to excellent advisors who also have a great eye for all things economic. Throughout the four-year process I was kept in the loop every step of the way. No stone was left unturned and nothing was left to chance - Mick Upton led from the front to secure me a settlement which is absolutely life changing and Marcus Grant was there to be the face of negotiation, assist and to provide crucial representation when it mattered most. Throughout it all there was a team of ferociously dedicated and committed executives, managers and assistants who formed the backbone of the case and provided their expert aid when I needed questions answered or needed to provide my own input. I would like to thank one of them, Louise Reardon, for being so kind, helpful and understanding when I found it difficult to complete forms or communicate effectively with the team. Her compassion was second to none, matched only by her ability to assist and offer guidance. For them this was another day at the office.
